Why do so many people ruin their truck by spraying brown paint on the front and around the wheel arches?

It looks RETARDED.

it might look retarded but they are being smart protecting the paint of their trucks.

I thought it was so they could play hide and seek in the dunes !!!!!

It is my understanding that it is not paint but a protective coating so that their vehicle does not get sandblasted when driving long distances across the desert.

It is only temporary. I see some people using dishwashing soap also.
