Apollo clinic in the news for wrong reasons!

Apollo and the new venture called FMC are talked about a lot in these forums in QL, but mostly for the wrong reasons. I feel the health ministry or other supervisory bodies should check the activities of such clinics. How much standards they keep. and whether they misuse health laws.

Apollo clinic & Future medical centre belong to same owner & manager, doctors are also same.I visited Apollo Clinic with AXA insurance.Doctor there advised me some investigations and told me to come in evening to Future medical centre to show the report as he was doing duty there in evening. They charged there another cosultation fees .Although its a insurance,it should not be like that. This is like helping newly opened clinic to run & cheating insurance componies.

then you need to change your attitude first. Stop writing in CAPS or you havent studied English?

IAM PUTTING CAPS NOT COZ AM ANGRY...IN ANY PROFESSION ATTITUDE OF THE PEOPLE IS IMPORTANT..BE DOCS OR PATIENTS..AND I AGREE HERE IN THE PRIVATE CLINICS THERE R MANY PROBS ...THE GOVT SYSTEM IS GOOD BUT ITS OVERCROWDED,STILL ITS GOOD.BE FEMALE OR MALE JUST SEE DOCTORS AS DOCTORS ONLY ..BE IT IN APOLLO,DOHACLINIC,HAMAD,AL-AHLI......AND IN MEDICAL PROFESSION A PATIENT HAS EVERY RIGHT TO KNOW THE DETAILS OF THE ILLNESS AND MEDICATIONS FRM THE DOCTOR ITSELF.

Why the CAPS ??? Still angry !! Calm down Doc !! I am a gentle. I know India is on Earth. Its not about the Nationality issue. Its about being ripped for no reason.

I have been to apollo several times, some docs good, some bad. But they always insist on reports and examinations, which is like damm expensive. Al Ahli is a useless hospital, only showoff, looks like a Hotel. Doha clinic is the worst of all. The doctors look like druggies.

I some what feel govt clinics like Muntaza or Airport are value for money. QRS 100 for the year, 2 Riyals for any kind of medicine. Lab tests as good as free..

Cheers !!

Any Doctor worth their salt can see a difference between gastric pain and 'another pain'.

A good Doctor will only look at what the patient describes. Is the father/mother/sister/brother/cousin having the symptoms...NO.

Listen to the patient.

By portalbump• 5 Mar 2009 20:41
portalbump

YA I AGREE THAT DOCTORS NOW A DAYS R BECOMING OVERCONSCIOUS... A GASTRIC PAIN CAN MIMIC SYMPTOMS OF MANY DISEASES.. THANKGOD ITS A GASTRIC PAIN WHICH CAN BE TREATED WELL... BUT IF ITS ANY THING ELSE THE TONE OF THE PATIENT AND THE RELATIVES WILL BE DIFFERENT... AND IF THE DOCTOR WONT DO THE TESTS AND DIAGNOSE THEM CORRECTLY...THE DOCTOR WILL BE GUILTY OF NOT USING ALL THE AVALIABLE MODERN TECHNOLOGIES ... IN OLD ERA THERE WAS MUTUAL TRUST BETWEEN DOCTORS AND PATIENTS BUT NOW A DAYS AS IN OUR MODERN SOCIETY THERE IS A TRUST DEFICIT..

We all trust our own and we are never going to agree on that.

I have been to Apollo and to be honest the Hype was not worth the visit.

Indian Doctors who did not speak English very well, but WANTED and encouraged the backing of western people going there. For me, ‘it was get better English and get empathy’. To be honest, Apollo is crap.

I think over here, they over prescribe. Antibiotics for everything, including a common cold.

Been to Hamad, Doctors Ok but the nursing 'care' laughable.

Been to Al Alhi, long wait, Doctors Ok but not that great.

All I can say is this, google your symptoms before you go to ANY hospital. That way you can question the Doctor.

Remember they are Doctors not gods.

AND REGARDING WHICH COUNTRY I BELONG ... IF INDIA IS IN MARS YES IAM FRM MARS.. THIS IS JUST MY OPINION AS A PERSON IN THIS FEILD.. DONT GET OFFENDED.... BE GENTLE ...

if a doctor is sure about his diagnosis, no patient can confuse, unless the patient has got psychiatric issues.

you got it right... less practical exposure can confuse doctors...... how much ever or how qualified a doctor is ..unless he is experienced , a doctor cannot be good enough to diagnose a patient.

Oh please, gastric pain could be because of many reasons. Doctors have expertise in their subjects. At certain times a tense patient can confuse the doctor.

I am more worried about the next generation of Indian doctors, those who pass out from the private colleges with no practical exposure.

Why you pissed off? You working for Apollo? You an Apollo Activist or Public Relations Offer. I just mentioned something that my friends wife went thru. I am sure she must have not been used to being attended by Male Gyno!

Back in India or even Pakistan or anywhere else for that fact, women mostly would prefer to be examined by a Female. I found it weird i mentioned it here. Your BOLDY letters are expressing what?

Yes I am in this world? Where are you from? Mars?? Lol

doctors of this era have become the laziest and dumbest of all, they can never diagnose a patient even with a gastric pain without Xray and Ultrasound scan.. both of which has the results written in pure english. so what is actually the duty of the doctor. read the results and prescribe accordingly for the particular result?

dont the doctors diagnose? cant they validate symptoms? is it necessary to have series of tests for throat infection?

U CAN VERY WELL CHECK THE QUALIFICATIONS OF THE PRACTISING DOCTORS IN ANY CLINIC IN QATAR THROUGH THE NATIONAL HEALTH AUTHORITY WEBSITE BY THE NAME OR BY THE NAME OF THE CLINIC ....

storm......i wonder if u r not living in dis world.......just visit HAMAD womens hospital.....there u get to see many experienced MALE GYNAECOLOGISTS...they do examinations.....but wat matters is the PATIENTS ATTITUDE......SEE A DOCTOR AS A DOCTOR IRRESPECTIVE OF GENDER....IF PATIENTS R NOT SENSIBLE....DOCTORS ARE SENSIBLE...they see patient as a patient not specifically as a male or female.....IN ALL COUNTRIES THE DICTUM IS THAT A MALE DOCTOR SHOULD BE ASSISTED BY A FEMALE NURSE IF THE PATIENT IS A FEMALE......

I do think you get what you pay for, I personally wouldn't be happy with anything but a Western trained doctor but thats my opinion.......

And how would you have felt if your wife was pregnant but the doctor didn't check and gave your wife a medicine which caused miscarriage of the baby.

If you don't like one of these clinics, pay up and go somewhere better.

Hi, every body,

You have all suffered from the behavior of doctors and other medical staff in private hospitals, besides wasting your precious time and hard earned money on unnecessary tests.

after going through all your comments in this forum I'm feeling lucky that I'm registered in a govt. health centre, getting world class healthcare facilities with nominal charges.

I would question the medical skills and qualifications of these people.....I doubt they are properly qualified by the sounds of it!

My friends wife had to visit the Gynac there for checkups. She was not pregnant just had some pain in the abdomen. The doctor suggested her to go for Ultrasound, Sonography and some other tests. What was more funny was she had to get those tests done by a male doctor. She was alone as her hubby was at work. There was a female assistant there as well, but she had to get her private parts checked by a male?? Is this allowed in Doha.

But this is what happend in Apollo?? He was upset, and his wife said she was worried about the pain. Anyway the pain turned out to be due to gastic trouble...

What a rip off !!!

I too had a very bad experience with them I took my wife for a throat infection before prescibing the medicine doctor asked if she is pregnant, she said no then the doctor said no we need to confirm this through the blood test. I agreed and paid them the charges for blood test and they said that the report will be available after 2 days and only then the medicine will be prescribed. I was wondering a simple throat infection that will be going away within 2 to 3 days its a right thing to do?
