My husband jst came back from work, he told me that on the way up from Mesaieed he saw a very bad accident in the other side of the road. It is a few hundred metres south of airport petrol station, 2pm.

A few vehicles involved but there is a car in flame with people in it. Alot of other cars stopping by and trying hard to put the fire out throwing sand by hand, but flames coming from all 4 windows.

Anyone have an update?

I was choke on words when I read about it, Sad situation. My prayers go out to this gentlemen.

I'm wondering, if some of this cars being sold in Qatar are family of the Pinto's?

In 1999, I got smash waiting in a red light intercection by a 18 wheeler who lost traction control going down hill during a snow fall. Did not saw him coming!

I was driving a Ford Windstar Van to my job site, pretty much I walked away only with zebra mark and shoulder bruises.

My van took the full impact of the truck and the whole back folded like an accordion. In those days that van was rated 5 star in safety. One of the features was the deactivation switch in the back for the fuel tank which was made of some collapsible plastic and the 10 mile per hour impact resistance bumpers.

A month later the insurance bought me a new van.

The problem is I think you’re an overeducated, 27-year-old virgin who holds the hands of superstitious old women and promises them eternity.

What was the car, KIA Piccanto?

How did it catch fire when hit from behind?

And what hit the car - a truck?

I had a lump in my throat when I read that there were people in it when it caught fire. My prayers are with Dad of Omar's friend.

Sorry for late update.

I passed the burnt out car the next day. The car was hit from behind. The rear bumper/boot was flat with the rear window, I am guessing the petrol tank was ruptured causing the immediate inferno.

This was very serious, did not read anything in any papers. Really hope that your Dad's friend Omer is recovering.

When hit like this from behind, at obviously a high speed, there is very little you can do, but this 'hit from behind' for accidents appears the most common, both trivial and serious.

Please every body, keep checking your rear view mirrors and indicate, and check all is clear before changing lane or joining main carriage way.
