AC Milan coming to town!
http://qatar-tribune.com/data/20090219/content.asp?section=sports1_1
Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Cafu, Emerson, Kaka, Dida, along with other members of the AC Milan soccer team will be seen in action here on March 4. The famed European club is coming to the town on the invitation of Al Sadd Sports Club to play in a farewell match that the Doha-based club is organising for Jaffar Rashid al Kuwari, a long-serving and loyal player of the club.
This was announced on Wednesday evening by Abdulla Aziz al Raban, vice-president of Al Sadd Club, in a press conference. Al Raban announced that an agreement in this regard was reached with AC Milan on Wednesday and negotiations for this were going on for quite some time. “We are happy to announce that the famous footballers of AC Milan will display their soccer skills here. A full-strength AC Milan team will take the field against our club team. We could not think of any other better tribute to Jaffar, whose association with the club dates back to 1982. AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti will also be coming,” said al Raban.
Al Raban said Al Sadd is bringing AC Milan not just for publicity and entertainment but to say ‘thank you’ to Jaffar in a fitting way. “It’s hard to find players like Jaffar in today’s era. He started his career with us and ended it with us. He has contributed a lot to Qatar football.
Qatar soccer will also benefit from the match as many of our players are members of the national squad as well. They will learn a lot from seeing these great players fromthe close quarters.”
On whether Beckham too will be part of the AC Milan contingent, al Raban said, “Insha Allah.” Al Raban said Al Sadd and AC Milan have enjoyed a warm relationship for long and some more joint projects would be announced in due course of time. He said the AC Milan team would reach here on March 3.
Jaffar said he was overwhelmed by the club’s gesture. “One cannot think of a better tribute. I can’t believe that my last match will be against one of the best teams in the world. I had earlier also played against AC Milan when the team had toured Qatar in 2003.”
Felipe Jorge, another Al Sadd player, who was also member of Brazil national squad said that soccer buffs in the country will get to see good soccer for sure.

Anyone got a ticket yet?
6 - 7 years ago they came to Doha, and the friendly match was free for everyone. My husband went to watch it with my step daughter.
I guess nothing free nowadays in Qatar.
Any further info on the tickets ant their availability and ofcourse the darn rates...
Please do update this thread people...!!!
Cheers!
Well to cut down the price of paying for AC Milan to come to Doha.... a couple of players can stay at my house
Kaka...and i haven't decided who else yet....
I am sure a some friends wont mind putting some of the boys up... as long as they do some housework in their shorts.
Its just a shame..

I truely do understand ur sentiment about the price, and i m sorry you feel it is prohibative for you to come to the game with your kids.
I assure you that even at these prices, Al-Sadd is still " subsidising" the ticket with more than half its actual price, because of the increadibly high fee of bringing Milan to town.
I understand the sentiment of those who have argued that the prices are nearly as high as those of champion league games, but i would also point your attention to the fact that in the premiership or the champion's league, the host team doesnt have to pay a fee for the visiting team, which in Al-Sadd case is QUITE A HEFTY FEE.
We do not hope or plan to recover all the cost from the tickets , not even half the cost, but the economics involved in providing such an aopportunity to football enthsiasts in Doha neccessitate the price Hike.
If it was up to us, we would sell the tickets for 50 and 20 Rials as we always do, but in this case, that is just not possible.
I do hope you reconsider however, and come and enjoy the game with your familly.
And on a final note, our contractual agreement with Milan obliges them to bring thier entire full squad.
gosh the price is really high for a friendly match
Cagliari (my home town) team in considered a secondary team, even if this years is having glory, San Siro have 80K seats, so the cheaper tickets are quite cheap..
I got to nearly all the Al Saad games with my kids, as I will this weekend. The cheapest seats for the Milan Friendly are the equivilant of the prices at a competitive Premier league or Champions league game. I would state hand on heart that Milan will not bring a full Squad or treat it anything other than a Training match. Its too close to the business end of the season to risk their talent. I sincerely hope I am wrong, it's a great coup for Al Saad and Qatar. I think your pricing it for a certain section of the Community who dont normally attend local league games. Ive seen as little as 300 people at recent Al Saad games. Its a shame, but i'm not paying the equivilant of nearly 150 pounds for a friendly.
The ground probably will be full, however I bet the numbers are down for the next Al Saad game. Clubs thrive on loyalty.
Madini is with the team till the end of the season my friend:)
I dont know how in heaven's name did u get a ticket in the san siro for 30 euroes, but i would like to buy one too:)
I m attending Real VS liverpool in the bernabeu God willing, and the cheapest WORST POSSIBLE TICKET is for 60 Euros ( 300 QR) ( if you can find it)
At any rate, enjoy the San Siro..
I m sorry you feel the tickets are not possible for you to purchase.
I assure you we will have a full staduim God willing.
Luckely I'll be in Milan to watch next sunday Milan X Cagliari (italian league),in San Siro stadium, a REAL match between REAL teams, and I'll pay the equivalent to 150QR! This prices must be a joke, right? Qataris really don't have where to spend their money anymore... And by the way, for sure won't play the whole team. Kaka is still recovering from a injury (has been out from the last most important matches), Maldini is retiring in the next week, and so on... Better to start looking for news before saying my friend, it's easy, google.com...
darn, the ONE footy match in Doha that I was really excited about, and they had to charge minimum 250QR for that! Thats it then, Ill sit in my sofa and watch for free.
Any really tall apartments around the stadium? :)

I agree, not everyone would want to pay as much for a football game.
A true football fan in doha however would be very encouraged by this opportunity i think..to see world class players a stone's throw away is not something that happens everyday, not in Doha, and not anywehere else in the world for that matter :)
That has a price
blimey, seems a tad steep for a friendly game....
They are going 2 be sold at the club.
We are working something out with Villagio and Landmark as well..but not confoirmd yet..
Will be out next week/..
Where can you get them?
The game is NOT free, and is CERTAINLY going to be very competitive.
All the squad is scheduled to arrive in doha, and there are no notable injuries to prevent Beckham, Ronaldinho, Kaka, or Maldini from playing the game.
The pricing shceme for the tickets is not yet finalised, but it is probably going to be
250 Qr for all tickets facing the main stands and behind the goals
500 QR for seats under the pillars of the staduim ( in the 2 corners)
750 QR ( Seats 2 levels below the main stands)
1000 QR ( seats directly below main stands)
1500 QR Main stands
10 000 QR ( VVIP box seats 4 people including food and beverage hospitality)
Tickets will be on Sale next week..
This is great news! Ill b there in my Red devils shirt :P
Is it confirmed that tickets will b free as usual? and any info on the match time?

which seat is the best to be sure i will be able to get a picture with the players? i love this team!
Please remember that the owner of Milan is Berlusconi, wich is the one who is driving Italy into the anti-democracy place. If possible please, please do not support his business!
tallg what does one expect when watching it for free?....lol

oooohhhh! I hope theres lots of injuries...for selfish reasons ;)
It wont be as good as it sounds. Some (many?) big names wont play and it wont be competitive.
It's pretty likely the big names won't play much of a part in this game, especially if Milan reach the UEFA cup last 16, the first leg of which will be played around 12 March.
This is just typical of Qatar ... I finally find out something I want to see, with lots of notice ... and it's on the first day of my vacation!!!! Bugger!!!!!!
But, unfortunately in this kind of games they just don't PLAY, it's not a joy to watch this kind of matches. on the other hand, it will be a good chance to see those gifted players on person.
I have watched AC Milan and Bercolna before in Cairo, but didn't perform as we see on the TV, I can understand their fear of injuiries and saving their efforts for the real matches.
See you on the stadiium 4 Mar.
