Need further information. I don't know enough here yet but I do know that there is no doctrine of binding precedent here thus leading to uncertainty - not progressive if Qatar is to be taken seriously. The legal system is not as advanced as UK or even Malaysia - the latter, heavily criticized and could be better but still...
I wonder if those "protests" are a show of force and solidarity to ensure that things remain the way they are - shrouded in secrecy and not reasonably transparent. Maybe and maybe not. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Justice must not only be done but be seen to be done - Rex v. Sussex Justices, Ex parte McCarthy ([1924] 1 KB 256, [1923] All ER 233).
Anyway, insufficient information to form a proper opinion for now.
if 33 judges are fed up enough to take a stand and risk thier livelihoods, think of how many are willing to continue in the treachery. These men are supposed to have the integrity to make judgements about life and death situations in a country lacking democracy and trials by jury; I applaud these men.
not spying, treason, rape, murder, etc. And finally, these judges are taking a stand, acting like real men and trying to change the level of corruption in this government. Almost 2 weeks after the incident and there is only one article about this, and it is in Arabic? Unbelievable!

They'll never get a NOC if they resign :p
33 Judges out of how many? Will this mean people waiting for trial will end up waiting many more months than normal, because of a shortage of judges?

Treason Hapy.
what crime was that
Possibly. Depends if he committed the crime or not. From what I understand he did.
but what justice is there in a court of law with no defense? Anyone can be charged with anything under the sun. This incident is screaming foul play.
Actually Arkiegirl, he is serving a life sentence for treason. That was his charge.

Is your father the one in prison for his own greed?
I'm hoping this will lead them to review some previous rulings! My father's under life sentence due to intervention by powers at hand. Here's hoping-
"Everything in this book may be wrong." Illusions: The Adventures of The Reluctant Messiah by Richard Bach
it could be the otherway round? But we are unlikley to find out.
"Deaths in the Bible. God - 2,270,365
not including the victims of Noah's flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, or the
many plagues, famines, fiery serpents, etc because no specific numbers
were given. Satan - 10."
If it ever does.
Given the ridiculousness of some of their rulings lately I say good riddance.
in the English news here!
PM, it's a first to even have something like this in the Arabic newspapers.
