Expat held for making illicit brew

THE Preventive Security Department has arrested an Asian expatriate for manufacturing and selling alcoholic drinks from a house, a statement issued by the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior says.
The PSD, acting on a tip off, deployed staff to watch the house, the statement said.
Security personnel, after getting the public prosecution’s permission, raided the house and caught the culprit.
They seized 117 bottles with alcoholic drinks. The Asian was found making the alcoholic brew in the toilet of the house and on the rooftop as well, the statement added.
The security agents arrested five other Asian expatriates staying with the offender violating the residence law and helping him in the crime, it said.
The arrested men were referred to the security department concerned to be transferred to the public prosecution.

The only difference is that in the Dukes of Hazard they had the "General Lee" to distribute the hooch, whilst here it is either Karwa or a bicycle..

i pity the laborer, in his desire to augment his income, he has to engage in illegal trade. sigh....

Probably he had some good old fashion moonshine recipe going on, someone got jealous.

Hmm, Jack it is not about your points, it is respect for the poster and for the mods of the site. Did you not see Qataris post a while back about hijacking?

Amound...No minus points here (for hijacking)...lol

Jack, you are hijacking, the post has absolutely nothing to do with their treatment here etc. They will be treated as convicts when they engage in illegal behavior such as this. Simple.

Amoud...in the west he would not have to live like a convict...just because he is a labourer.

And there are many Engineers too among them in those "overalls"....debared from visiting Malls (...forget nightclubs)!

(I am talking about the workers in general not about the brew seller)....call it hijack if you want

LOL, Jack.... I dont think engaging in illegal activity (you would also be arrested in the west for this also... moonshine stills... helloo) and getting drunk off some hooch that may make you go blind a characteristic of a 'society'

Thats really sad....

"For an expatriate worker putting in about 12 hours at work and some 3 hours transport to Industrial area 6 days a week and with most malls/areas closed to them on their only day off ie Friday, with no family, hopes to visit them only in 2 years, etc"

....most of them even work on Fridays till the Call for prayer at 11am!

Are we living in a SOCIETY?

Where the labourers have to live, their life like convicts!!!

I think the major issue here is that he was selling it. If he was making it for his own use there would not have been much hype. Who would complain if he kept his deed to himself?

In Kuwait the favoured aftershave was called "Jackson" it tasted (allegedly) of gin, however it was generally drunk with Coke. Brings a whole new dimension to Jack n Coke! ;o)

Oh yes, EMN,

The business school we attended taught about et al.

It taught me that I handle liquor very well everday:

In my aftershave, every morning.

Everytime I get a cut, I go for my spirit bottle.

And evertime I leave a mix of sugar and water at my washbasin for some time, I'm making a brew !!!

LOL. Wanna join?

By GodFather.• 15 Feb 2009 11:01
GodFather.

Reminds me smelly Indian Colies famous quotes.. your drink you Gin and Tonic etc I will drink my after shave.. Guess the poor labourers will be drinking after shave again to get high..

For an expatriate worker putting in about 12 hours at work and some 3 hours transport to Industrial area 6 days a week and with most malls/areas closed to them on their only day off ie Friday, with no family, hopes to visit them only in 2 years, etc; getting a high on alcohol is just about the only selfish thing they do in their life. Rest of their lives they are living for their families. With official formalities and a high salary eligibility to get official recognition to their availing liquor legally, they opt for this subversive act of getting illicit liquor. As for the seller, he found a big demand so went to its supply!!!

So I can sympathise with them, but then I cant condone the crime as living in a society demands certain sacrifices.

And FYI "every_mothers_DREAM"; liquor brewing does not differenciate between toilet/tap/mineral water as what we learn from school is that its all in vapour, so quality of water doesnt make a difference.
