Baby on the plane

Hello
I am planning to travel with my baby in a few months.I have never traveled with my baby by plane(she will be 9 months then) and have some questions which hopefully calm me down because I must confess I am a little bit stressed.I am afraid that my baby cry all way or she will not be able to sleep or eat and so on.How to remain calm and let my baby feel safe? can you share your experience with me?I will be very grateful.Thanks.

Ps.I am travelling without my husband so I will be counting on my own I guess.

Hi, we fly with our baby all the time back to the UK and Qatar. We always travel with Qatar Airways. They are great in my opinion. What you need to do is this;

When you book your seat you need to request a ‘bassinette seat’. This is at the front of the plane or section. It is basically a fold down crib for your baby to sleep in which is directly in front of your seat. People with babies get the priority to sit here so you will be in good company. There is lots of legroom for you so you can also spread the things you need out and as you know by now, babies need lots of things. You are not allowed this crib when you are taking off or landing so they give you a child strap which fixes to your seat belt to help with the bumps if there are any. During the flight, however, it's all yours.

I have flown a few airlines with our little one and Emirates and Qatar airways were very good. BA was slightly poor as they forgot about our request for a crib and stuck us in the main area. As you can imagine, sitting on the end of row with a baby, when everyone wants to get up and down, passing food across is not a good thing. Why am I saying this... well, I want to emphasise the booking of your bassinette / crib. This will make your journey much, much easier.

Good Luck

hi mom,

Not to worry at all..

Me too travelled with my baby last month(she was 5 months old) with qatar airways.As someone mentioned, yes, qatar airways is the worst. U knw they gave me a normal passengers seat!!!! U can imagine how difficult it can be to sit in a normal seat with a baby. But fortunately there was nobody beside my seat. So when my baby slept i manage to put her on that seat.(VERY HORRIBLE, isnt it?)They dont even ask wat v need for babies..THE WORST AIRLINE!!

Before travelling, for atleast 4 or 5 hours dont let ur baby sleep.So while flying or on board ur baby may sleep peacefuly..Nothing to worry dear.Everythin wil b fine.(insha allah)

BON VOYAGE!!

don`t worry mommy, everything will be ok. and yes they will take ur pram once u will go inside the plane. so after u check in u still can have ur pram with u. me and my baby were just fine when she was 2 months old. because i gave her pacifier so she`s not crying a lot. and also baby cries, so don`t worry :D

In your opinion,which one is better for baby:to fly at night(baby might sleep)or during the day?how about the pram?if they take it away after check in will I have to carry my baby on my own(she is now 9 kg!!)

Why you didn't like Qatar Airways?I used British Airways before,how about these airline?What did you like the most about Emirates?does any airline provide baby bed during the flight?

It is going to be a lot of fun, don’t worry my wife travelled a lot alone with two little ones. The only time baby will cry is during takeoff. If you use bottle to feed, try this during takeoff. If you are travelling Emirates Airline they will take care of the baby and Qatar Airways is the worst in our opinion.
