My wife is 38 weeks pregnent and has been going to hamad Hospital since last 3 months. In hamad hospital doctors recommend an ultrasound after every 2 weeks. Can any one tell me that is it harmful for the baby? In India generally doctors do not prefer this much frequent ultrasound checkups. Please suggest and share your experience.

At the begining stage of preganancy you have to go for ultrasound each and every (03) months, to make sure your baby is healthy and safe, if any complecation occured found by the Doctor, they recommend for Frequent Ultrasound which is necessary.....

I had ultrasound done every month when I was pregnant(that was during the time when I went to private clinic)then I switched to Hamad Hospital and I had three more in the last trimester of pregnancy. No complications just to make sure everything was ok with my baby.

The less frequent the better.

I had ultrasound every 2 weeks in my 1st trimester when i was expecting my youngest son. It is not recommended but I had a complicated pregnancy that was why.

My son now 3,5 years old, healthy and happy .. Thank God. eventhough I had the same worries you had.

So, have a wonderfull parenthood.

I am following up with Hamad hospital for 3 months and I am almost 21 weeks. Usually they do the ultra sound once a month until the 32 -34 weeks when they start to do it every 2 weeks in order to make sure the mother and baby are healthy and knowing when the labor will start.

I have asked that question and they ultra sound technician said that, if the pregnant lady did the ultra sound over 25 times during her first trimester it will be harmful for the baby. because the first trimester is when the development of the baby and his/her organs are developing.

by the end of second trimester to the end of the third is only gain of weight and size.

hope this helps

as far as i know ultrasounds are not harmful as they use sound waves to see the baby and not radiation.

my wife had one with almost every visit (we were in doha) but not every two weeks. but at least every month, some months more because we went to get second opinions.

Hi,I m amused to hear tat the doctors have asked ULTRASOUND after every 2weeks..It wasnt the case with me..They did ultrasound for me straight at the 6month of mine...And then i did it again when i crossed 8months..R u sure tat ur wife isnt having ne complications?? coz wat i feel is doctors generally ask for this when they see ne complicated cases...Just verify with the doctors again...Y dont u try APOLLO first????Yes, in INDIA, doctors rarely advises for frequent ultrasound and sonographies until n unless they see ne rare case.....They normally tell to do it at 7month or after tat...
