One of my friend brought me some vegetables grown in his farm near Al Khor. They are really nice..Particularly the Beets and Cauliflowers. Beleive me!!! They are yummy!!
I had a classmate at highschol with tiny feet. At that time, the most prestiguous shoes shop was selling the boys' shoes for 1/2 the price of the men's shoes. He was teasing us all the time with his prestiguous shoes which we could not afford :((((((((((
Freakonomics was a great book, loved it ( I have the one with the apple/orange cover, it's nicer than the other one :) )

Elsewhere they double the egg production by duping the chickens. They switch off the lights every 6 hours, and when they turn on the lights the hens believe its a new day and they lay an egg. Thats 2 mornings a day and 2 eggs a day.
I hope Qatar keeps on importing specially food otherwise, we all have to leave soon then. Imagine, now you can't find Qatari chicken eggs in the market. Qatar can't produce even chicken and eggs. What about the rest. Actually lot of manpower hours are wasted in breaking construction. Look at saudia they are producing nearly everything. Food can be produced in Qatar. Not everything like Sony TV which is not compulsory for daily life. We can't live without daily requirements. Qatar Produce More. LOL. Qatar is not thinking about economic sanctions, huh
at least food satisfaction, who knows that the oil and gas will have the same value in the future, maybe another energy will be discovered. this is only my point of view maybe i'm wrong.
that's right, bleu. But it also creates interdependence. And that can sometimes hurt as the example of Russia's stop of gas delivery to Western Europe shows.
Drac, I understand what you mean and I agree with you but this is only for a short term, for long term speaking they should make a program for a new generations.
They grow in my backyard, salax. In the Industrial Area they grow behind every car workshop, naturally. I haven't seen artificially grown tomatoes so far. Do they 'grow' in IT shops?
Compared with some other oil- and gas- rich countries in the Gulf region of the Middle East, the Qataris have definitely been the least "glamorous" in their spending and acquisition attitude.
When you are sitting on the 2nd largest natural gas reserves in the world , as the Qataris are, then you can obviously afford the best that is on offer.

edifis:
There are many things to notice
How he walks.
How he stands.
How he talks.
How he dresses.
How he looks.
His face.
His facial expressions.
There are details in each of those categories, and if you're observant enough, you can know his origins and Family/Tribe - Just by looking at him.
How will I know whether a Qatari is a Qatari by looking at him?
"lazy, uneducated, rich gits"...
Well, I've never met a Qatari with all 4 of those... you seem to be prejudiced.
cuteydog, can you do what the these employees from third world are doing, you as united kingdom citizen?!!
Alexa,Do you have a farmhouse in Doha?

physicist are the slaves of economists MD. that's the reality :/
Qatar imports fuel. Hi Hi.
Qatar doesnt import oil and gas :P
well cuz Qatar doesnt have too many natural resources. Hence it has to import most of the things.

Lebanon... the love of my soul!
I don't like economics. It's an immature science. Based on the irrational asumption that something like a "homo economicus" exists. Physics is better.

But they will need a lot of energy to freeze them. That will eat up all the profit.
Dead chicken we can export it. The profit is there. No body will know, the dead is frozen
Dead chicken we can export it. The profit is there. No body will know, the dead is frozen
without any taste!
wait...like plastic one?
But then they grow old faster and die earlier. And they have to buy new chicken. So, where is the increased profit?

"Qatar can't produce even chicken and eggs." That's because they don't know which they need first, chicken or egg?
But the investment from selling petroleum can.

Absolutely not, edifis. Clay is red, oil is black. Do you think I am colorblind? Even if, it also smells differently.
MD you must be confusing Pet'r oil with clay.
didn't work, salax. But I tried, you know, for the monkeys.
Salax, I brought some sacks of sand from the desert and mixed it with the clay I found in 50 cm depth in the garden, It's all local.
at least food satisfaction, who knows that the oil and gas will have the same value in the future, maybe another energy will be discovered. this is only my point of view maybe i'm wrong.
There are, edifis. But they're actually made by Indians.
that's right, bleu. But it also creates interdependence. And that can sometimes hurt as the example of Russia's stop of gas delivery to Western Europe shows.
Are there any 32' TV "made in Qatar"?
I just want to say it's more cost-effective to import things, building a car factory or electronics factory (TVs ...etc.) doesn't make sense.
Would you buy a "Made in Qatar" 32" TV at QR12,000, or get that 52" Sony at the same price?
And the market here is so tiny! If it's not a viable export, or can't find a big local market, it's not worth it to manufacture it here.
You should read Thomas Friedman's book "The World is Flat", this stuff is just one page of the introduction to the preface of the book :) .
behind, edifis, not 'in'. The car workshops have a lot of waste water which tomatoes love. They grow like hell. Especially when they get some coolant.
Why grow tomatoes in Car workshop?
Drac, I understand what you mean and I agree with you but this is only for a short term, for long term speaking they should make a program for a new generations.

the gas is not eternel cuteydog, qatar should think about other resources like tourism, agriculture etc...
for example, the EAU, they can stop producing oil and gas coz they invested their money in many things like i said above.
Panda I have no reason to be upset. It doesn't concern me in any way.But Qatar do import most goods. Thats because they don't manufacture any thing.
Countries import what is to their advantage
Even tomatoes?
"Everything in this book may be wrong." Illusions: The Adventures of The Reluctant Messiah by Richard Bach
cuteguy, car manufacturers? where that i wanna buy one car.
go to any mall and check the manufacturers of all product, it's very rare to find a product made in qatar isn't it?
edifis, yes ur upset!
No Panda I am not. And I am not upset.
Do not worry, India will not loose his market here, coz everything is from india maybe you are an importer that why you are upset huh!
Wait wait, Do Qatar import every thing? Certainly not gas!
You are welcome Panda.
thank you edifis for your silly answer
What a silly question!! The silliest one I ever heard.
The national flags are not imported...or...
