Your comments on my Job Offer

Ok ok - I know this is the same question that everyone asks... but hey - thats why we have this forum so I can take help of people already in Qatar :-)

So here's the deal:
The employer is one of the well known business groups in Qatar - the 'J' Group. They are a trading company dealing in cars, petrochemicals, IT, heavy equipment etc. I do not need to sign a fixed term contract and in case I chose to quit the job, I give 30 days notice.

I have approx. 5 years of total working experience and 1.5 yrs of Auditing experience.

Position - Internal Auditor
Basic - 7000
Housing - 3250
Phone - 300
Car - 1250
Petrol - 300

45 days leave per year in which 15 days is full salary and 30 days half salary. The company provides air tickets one time passage to home country. The other things sound pretty standard to what I have read on Qatar Living on offers received by others.

I am bachelor and my current life style is:
1 bedroom furnished house (full kitchen, PC, internet, Living room)
Once a week socialising at a pub/restaurant/house party/movie/sports activity.
Annual Gym membership
Car
Annual holiday

I would appreciate your comments in helping me figure out if I would be able to continue my current lifestyle and be able to save about QR 3,500 per month. My vision is to move to Doha for roughly 18-24 months.

Cheers
Nik

Thanks guys for all your comments...

Unfortunately I can not negotiate on the housing allowance of QR 3,250 per month as they say its a 'company policy'. However if I get married, they double the housing allowance to QR 6,500.

Moreover I have the option to stay at a company provided sharing accomodation initially. In that case I do not get the housing allowance of QR 3,250. In case I accept this offer, I plan to stay at the company provided accomodation for the first two months and then look out for a place of my own.

It's fine as a start, but try to negotiate about the housing, at least let them give you 4,000 riyals, or let them pay the electricity and water. Good luck and welcome to Qatar
