Boy, six, drives to school after missing bus!
... and then continues journey on foot after crashing
The child, who has not been identified, took the keys to the 2005 Ford Taurus while his mother was sleeping and drove six miles across the American state of Virginia.
He ran off the road several times before coming to a halt after hitting an embankment and telegraph pole about a mile-and-a-half from his destination.
Astonishingly, he then tried to continue his journey on foot before being stopped by police.
The boy suffered minor injuries, despite not wearing a seat belt, and was eventually taken to school by officers after being checked out at a hospital.
'He was very intent on getting to school,' said Sheriff Chuck Wilkins.
'When he got out of the car, he started walking to school. He did not want to miss breakfast and PE.'
The parents, Jacqulyn Deana Waltman, 26, and David Eugene Dodson, 40, are each charged with child endangerment, Wilkins said.
The boy and his brother, four, were placed in protective custody.
But the other thing about the kid I found was, not only that he could have been hurt but also he could have been abducted .. along with the car!
Oh Jauntie have you not seen my photo on facebook of two kids driving a Quad Bike down the main road going to Al Khor past the Exhibition Centre????
Oh and there is a kiddie about 10 who drives his father's car round my compound!!!
you can be charged with child endangerment because you sleep. Lol!

HE WHO DARES WINS
he did good job :)
our driver pointed to the car parked next to us and there was a little boy, about 3 or 4 years old, sitting in the drivers seat. He had started up the car.
I opened the door and turned the engine off and asked him where his mother was. He got out of the car, grabbed the keys from me (quite rightly I suppose lol) and headed across the road to the house opposite. I followed, and his mother was just coming out of the house. I explained he'd started the motor. She just smiled.
Jeez! He only had to hit the gear stick and whooooooooosh! the car would have bolted forward into the tree in front of it.
Not clever, Mum!
