Qatar Post Office
Hi. Just this morning, I went to the Post Office in Corniche to inquire about the christmas card that my sister in the US had sent me. Since my sister did not write the PO Box number (only my company's physical location)and the letter is not registered (just an ordinary post) it did not reached me. So off I went to trace the whereabouts of that card. First, the man in the reception guided me towards a counter where 3 men patiently listen to my query. Since they could not help me,they told me to go to the customer service counter who then told me to go to the enquiry counter. The two ladies in the enquiry did not really understand my queries at all! grrr.... I went home empty handed and accepting that the mail is lost forever.
I know that the majority of mails here are either registered or with PO Box number. But what about those mails which are neither of the two? Don't tell me Qatar Post has no data base where they log in all received mails of the day, so that they can monitor where the hell are the mails placed- po box, delivered, or perhaps in the case of my mail- in the trash bin! No one in the Q post can tell me where my mail is now.
can track your mails if there's a tracking number sticker stub w/ bar code) on it. Or perhaps you may check their website that list down all 'waiting parcels/mails for pick-up'. Unless you have it (bar code) you still can find it, or unfortunately it was returned to sender because it has no P.O. Box No.

Sadiq... thank you so much for sending the link... I found our parcel from UK in the list awaiting for us!!!!
Nothing remains the same, and everything will change at some point.

sadiq, tracing the whereabouts of letters is not preposterous, the post office is established to do just that. that is their job. anyway, if you have a system of tracking which qatar can afford to design, then tracking is not tedious. i just want to know if my letter had arrived or not or been returned to the sender but no one can say for sure.
you can only see registered mails, parcels on the QPOST website under your PO Box number. not the regular mails. Still, you have to visit QPOST once in awhile.
I have had a QPost box for four years and I love it. It is one of the best postal services I have ever used. I can check my PO Box on line and see if I have any registered mail and anyone can check on line and see if you have any parcels waiting also.

Obviously if someone sends a letter to an unknown address it won't get delivered. To even think that someone will track millions of letters a day is preposterous.

PO Box :D
nkotb, your letter was delivered to your place (not PO Box)? if that's the case then i still have hopes for my mail. it was sent on first week of December.
for urgent docs we normally req that it be couriered or sent by registered mail

if you're just waiting for an ordinary christmas card or letter, it will really take time to arrive :D

QPOST sucks! my sister from the US sent me a parcel/package on Nov. 17. as of Dec. 1 it was in New Jersey. on Dec. 25, finally i received it. What a wait!
or else it will Return to Sender. that's the usual if it came from the US
our mail goes to hub's office for the last 5 yrs. we use the company add and post box and yes it does take longer than usual , sometimes a mth to a mth and a half.
