Settling into school
My children have just started at school and don't seem too happy!! We moved over from uk 2 weeks ago and they don't know anyone. Change is a difficult thing for a 12 and 14 year old. Can anyone give me any advice on how long it is likely to take for them to settle and make new friends? They ar both very shy. I am trying to stay positive but mornings are a sad time!
Thanks in advance
mslo
I know that it is early days yet but it's awful seeing your kids so sad when you are used to them being so happy!I asked my kids to get a list of the after school activities so that they can meet others. I guess I have to be patient!
Thank you.
mslo, that's a tough age. You just have to give it lots of time. The best thing they can do is join groups so that they can meet kids with something in common. Are they into music, art, sports? Does their school offer any after-school activities they might be interested in? If not, check in Marhaba magazine for activities, or ask around here on QL.
Good luck.
Your lucky that they have a school place, let alone settling down..
