QR20,000 (all inclusive) + Free Medical + Yearly flight tickets
By souls33k3r •
Hi guys,
Well i've already seemed to have asked this question before but would like to have some more views on this. I have recently been offered the salary of QR20,000/month which includes the allowances. Medical is provided by the company and Flight tickets to back home. Bear in mind i'm married, due to have a kid and am from UK with a 2nd Line Support experience. I'm not much of a big spender but then again do spend on some necessities. Is this any good? Many thanks folks
Hi Souls,
PM me, I will give you more information about moving to Doha. Even you can ring on my UK mobile number to discuss it further.
cheers, Yasir
Ta Muffin :o) true if only i was a BRITISH ... ha ha ha ... i'm no way near being a british ... ok this is who i am, i was born in Doha, raised in Pakistan and been living in UK for the past 5 years :oP my aim is not to save much but to work and live a healthy life ... my mrs is not very fond of driving so we can skip that, she's a house wife and works part time here in the UK but after the kid she said that she would want our kid to have a full time mum at home for which she is willing to sacrifice her career at the start ... when our kid is old enough to start schooling, it's a lot easier for me to get my child educated back home because education is of top notch back home ... plus i wouldn't be living in Doha for the rest of my life, just coming back to my roots to gain a bit more experience and try getting my dad back in town to meet up with his old mates :o) ... but that's something coming from personal point of view ... any way i think within 20k if i won't live a LUXURIOUS lifestyle then at least not the worst lifestyle as well :o) Please do correct me if i'm wrong
Hi,
Just to add a bit more information to the first reply. A QR20,000 a month salary (people, please do not take this the wrong way it is said in the spirit of reality and difference of requirements for people from different parts of the world) for a British expat is not allowing for much especially as it is all inclusive.
You have rent and utiltities to consider. Although there is some indication that this is coming down, reality is that you are looking at about half of your salary given to this.
Car loan is another major expense. Your wife may need her own car or have to rely on taxis which is another expense to consider.(public transport is in its infancy yet)
Food prices in Doha are very high, I would say if you do a fair bit of home cooking with the occassional treat you are looking at Qr2000 a month at the very least. (nappies and formula etc may add to this figure)
Don't start me on schools, its a nightmare getting a place and $$$ to pay for British Schools.
Going back home is also an issue, although at the moment the pound is at an all time low, reality is that you have to spend many riyals to get a few pounds and a few pounds don't go a long way in the UK. Take into account you may have monthly mortage repayments and other commitments, summer holidays, if you have a place to stay, transport, food etc while keeping up the payments here.
I really am not trying to discourage you to come here, but I would want to have a clear picture if I was in your situation. The best thing may be to try and renegotiate your contract for accomodation and schooling as a given even not an allowance, even if it means taking a little less as basic salary. Also if an option to come out here for a month is possible taking leave from your exsisting job, to get a feel of the place before taking the plunge.
I wish you all the best with whatever decision you make. Feel free to ask anymore questions lots of people will have a better idea than myself.
Goodluck.
Thanks mate ... much appreciated ... just sent you a PM :o)
this is not bad in case you need a job. you may pay like 7 to 8K for housing and 1500 for car and 3000 for your house exp. food and stuff. schools are not cheap here so you may accept this. i am not getting even this amount but it is good for me i even pay for a nice car 2500 per month but i dont need to pay for house as i live with my family. any how i dont see this bad at all. it is ok and go for it good luck man. if you need to know more info. you may PM and i will answer ASAP.
