How to safely dispose off mercury thermometers in Qatar?

I need to dispose of a faulty mercury thermometer - is it safe to dump it along with the normal household rubbish? I am aware mercury is very toxic, and I do not want to harm the environment (even in a wastefill site).
Any other means of disposal in Qatar? Someone pls. advice.

Those were US links, I presume our questioner want to dispose of the mercury here in Qatar in a ecologically sound way.
I would also like to know, I have some lithium batteries which I need to recycle and I have no clus ehow such materials are disposed of in Qatar.
All mercury containing thermometers and manometers must not be disposed of in the regular trash
