Wife sponsoring husband.

Hi all,

I'm a teacher, moving to Qatar in a few weeks to start a new job. After I get my residence visa sorted I plan to sponsor my husband, so he can join me. My employer said in my interview that this is possible, but I just read on qatarvisitor.com:
"Note that, while in theory possible, it can be very difficult for women to sponsor their husbands."

I'm looking for advice from someone who has been through this process. Was it "very difficult"? Tell me all!

Thanks.

Thank you for all the helpful comments.

I'll contact my employers again for further clarification.

It was encouraging to read that "teachers and nurses tend to have more luck". I'll bring my rabbit's foot!

We found it very difficult, but got there in the end through perseverance. It took about 4 months of constant attempts. You'll need your employer to give you all the support possible.

The government seems to change it's policy on this all the time, so it depends when you catch them. And it depends what job you're doing. Teachers and nurses tend to have more luck.

Make sure they will give u married person work contract.

and just keep it clear that u r accepting the job, but u want it to be clear that u want ur husband to join u as well.

in all the cases, ur employer and sponsor can help u a lot while processing the visa for ur husband.

good luck!

If you're looking for a problem, you're probably gonna find one.

It sounds like the problem may be with your employer/sponsor. You have the right to have your spouse with you unless your wages are bellow the required minimum to sponsor a family member. Be sure you have spoken to the right person at your new job and not a third party recruiting agent

You shouldn't have to wait for your RP before he comes over either but I suppose it depends on your contract...

No, it isn't difficult at all. I'm assuming if you have a married contract and you are the employee you can definately sponsor your husband. I do and I know many others that do!

With your employer's assistance it shouldn't be very difficult at all. Your company's mandoub will be very helpful with what is a lot of red tape and plain old knowing where to go and what to provide in the way of paperwork. It can be difficult to go it on your own just because of the logistics.
