former resident here in qatar who wishes to come back on a visit visa doesnt need noc from their previous employer. but if you seek for a new employement you need to get noc from your previous employer, it is a must. otherwise you cant have work visa w/in 2 years period, starting from the date you leave qatar.
former female (single) resident whose status was changed due to marriage doesnt need noc from their previous employer if she wishes to come back to qatar. if you seek new employement you need noc from your husband if he is your sponsor not from your previous employer. if not under husband sponsor noc from your previous employer is also a must. otherwise you cant have work visa for a period of 2 years from the date you leave qatar. note: 5 years ban still under deliberation.
Actually, there is no clear guidelines regarding this. I have a friend who visit as often as he wants to be with his family (this guy used to work here and his wife is also now working here, before she was under his sponsorship, now with her present employer), and he has no problem going back from UAE twice a month staying here for maximum three days per visit). But I also have a friend who was denied entry at the airport because he has no NOC from his former company.
I think it's a case-to-case basis. Try it, if they allow you, you're lucky. If they deny you entry, well......

Yes you need an NOC if you held an RP the last 2 years.
But there are people that have been able to arrive without it, although I would not recommend you trying it - you might be the Unlucky one.
Do a search on QL and you will find that this has been discussed numerous times over the last 2 months.

If you had an RP that expired/was cancelled less than two years ago, then yes, you need an NOC to come in with a visit visa.
