Job offer advice please...

My husband has been offered a job with Qatar Airways. it's an Management position ( I gather that the ground staff and crew dont get treated well and thought that this might help with the info I'm after).

Do you have any ideas if they have certain locations i.e. compounds where they place their staff??We are trying to get an idea of what to expect as they provide accommodation. We're also trying to determine if we can bring some of our furnishings out.

Also he gets a company car - how does this sort of thing work in Qatar, similar to London and SA for example where he choose a near new car on a lease or do you get some old banger? We have three kids who'd need to all fit into the back and with carseats it's a push in any big sedan. We had a A6 and had to trade if for a 7 seater to fit them comfortably.

Do you know of any non ground/crew Qatar Airways employees and how they are finding them as employers?
Thanks

xray - we're fully aware that there is going to be a lot of negatives but we're hoping the positives do outweigh them. If not....we're fairly hard headed and will keep trying until we're happy! ; )

trust me, u will b doing it more often than that... there are public holidays (eid - twice a year with 3-4 days off, and may others) and ppl working with QA often fly over the weekends too...

Rents have gone up recently in Qatar. So, it is wise to take the accommodation from the company as you don't have to bother about the water/electricity bills and the maintenance shud be included as well... i suppose so !

Mostly, QA staff are within the city ... their accommodation is spreaded all over, there is no particular area... there r many in Airport area, Mansoura.. within the city .. and schools won't be far too their is school transportation.. although traffic has been a headache recently...

Pack ur bags and welcome 2 Qatar... u will like the place... i luv it !

Good luck

Thanks - The travel benefit does appeal! Especially as we're would now be able to fly home once a year!

They have said that they would provide the accommodation or we could take the allowance, but it doesnt seem like the allowance would cover a three bed house. Do you know if they have areas where we are more likely to be placed? We want to look at where the schools etc are. He will be a Manager at the Airport ( I expect it to be a high grade).... not sure about which grade that would be. Definitely not Air crew or anything with the Customer side of things.

It is a good opportunity ... there are several benefits .. especially the travelling benefit (staff discounted tkts) for the family !

Well, at QA .. lotz of ppl say that it is pressurzd, tensed but if one is good at his work ... why worry...

Re; Accommodation - Some r provided with apartments, some have allowance.. depends on his grade/position

Re; Car - if QA is providing a car.. good 4 u... it will b a good one for sure... if it doesn't suit ur requirement u can always buy a second car as per ur choice !

u mentioned air crew ? right - most of them have furnished apartments ... depends on ur contract now ...
