SUGGESTION FOR TRAFFIC!!!!

BLESS7
By BLESS7

DEAR ALL,

how do you think this will work?

each one of us is fed up of the never decreasing traffic in Qatar...freinds can u give a thaught to this...

1) IF all the schools in Qatar should make it mandatory to USE the school bus and not private means of transport

this will definately help since on an average ONE BUS will do the job of 30-35 cars

Agree mj, Qatar is not pedestrian friendly, and the weather doesnt help much, most days its too hot to walk. Its a pity because kids just dont get enough excercise here, and walking would be a good alternative.

with so many crazy drivers on the road, i would never dare let my kid walk to school even if it was 10 steps away....

"it should be a part of the admissions procedure "..-BLESS7, you're not serious, are you? they cant do that,..if they do, they'd have a mob of angry parents up their a**...

1. Pool your car -Employees working in the same company OR living nearby can pickup -drop their colleagues. (Any legal issues????)

2. Flyovers….Flyovers….Flyovers (Not like Jaidah fly-over)

3. Eliminate 100s of small intersections/Cross sections. We have cross sections at every 200-300 Meters.

4. Develop more parking areas /multi-floors parking inside the city

5. Give top priority to Road Development projects....compel contractors to complete the project within given time line.

6. Reduce /stop contracting high rise buildings in one small area.

7. Plan as many as approach/alternate roads to avoid traffic on only one road....like we are witnessing at Cornishe road.

8. Introduce round the clock dedicated Bus service taking people to various shopping malls.

9. Start Metro Train project (right now)

10. Think big, plan big

More fly-overs all around the city is the only practical solution... But they need to be more like the one after Decoration R/A on Salwa and not like the Jaidah F/O...

That same system of alternate days of using cars is currently being implemented in the manila, philippines. It could be a solution here but again that would be a question for a lot people living far from their offices and not so accesible by public transpo.

They have to pick up and drop off all the kids.. This means that some kids could be on the bus for hours..

Back in manila..we have this famous way of reducing cars on the roads by restricting certain numbers on days of the week. its like plate numbers that ends on 0 and 1 are not allowed on Mondays,2 and 3 on Tuesdays, and so on..Still,Doha traffic is nothing compared to Manila traffic,no bus racing along the hiways.no blaring horns of jeepneys,no tricycles, undrbone motorcycles,mopeds,pedicabs,ohhh...u name it, its all on the road...

They should offer placement according to where yo live and kids should be encouraged to walk to school..

Why do the schools have to start so early in the mornings anyway??? 7am is way too early, other gulf countries start school at 8am. 8am till 2pm seems so much more civilised to me and im sure all the other mums that have to get up at the crack of dawn to get sleeping kids dressed and out of the door by some unearthly hour.

i definately agree that all us expat mums should be banned from the roads!!!!!!!!! That would make my life so much easier. so tell me what time are you gonna start the school run on our behalf Charanmafiriyals???????? Id much rather you be getting up at 5am every day and doing the school run instead of me. Heaven to sleep in and let someone else have the headache!

Now tell me why didnt anyone else think of banning us before????????????????????????????????????????????

it's a fair solution that "expatriate women drivers" and mums are talking about! In my referring case the school gate opens 6.30 and the school program starts at 7.15 but, I will NEVER be at school with a level 1 kid at 6.30 just leaving her in the courtyard (till they can enter in the class at 7.00) for nobody's sake! Maybe bigger students enjoy a chat early in the morning while waiting...All this mums are clearly facing the crazy traffic at least two times per day, traffic which became an annoying subject and fact for everybody, that's why mandatory school bus service can be a solution if well arranged...for respective authorities. Why to ban us from the roads of Qatar? Better ban yourself of posting nonsense, Mr."mafiriyals"...

If you don't want to face traffic in your way to work, just leave your home 2 hours prior and don't wait for the last minute rush hours.

Sorry to say; but apparently for what I witness, most people love to leave their homes an hour prior punching the clock at their jobs, next thing you know they are driving like ass$%les and assuming, that they are the only owners of the road, specially the Qataris drivers.

The best idea is to rebuild the whole city again, from the scratch. But as this is not possible ..or it may be, as some might say...

The other suggestion is to set apart the school timings from office timings , if this is the major cause of all the problems.

Do you remember Ramadan period, when schools and offices started/finished the program at same hour??!Quite a nightmare in traffic...OMG! And it's true some schools are so near each other built (e.g. Qatar Intl Sc.&Lebanese Sc...)that we lose most of the time with parking and waiting in queue...anyway, I would like that QIS will have the transportation service which they don't:-(

It will be good to become mandatory but to have an experienced driver and a perfect schedule to collect kids at time from close/neighborhood areas in order not to wait & travel like crazy, poor of them!

u know,

i heard every bank gives at least 30 to 40 car loans every month..

how many banks are there..?

how many new cars r on the streets every month..?

traffic is increasing day by day & ain't no f*ckin way to reduce it..

i thought about it..

& my best solution is to buy a BIKE or a Superbike..

it'll take me 10 mins max to get to work..

cutting through traffic in round abouts..

& always first at traffic signals..

;-)

OMG if i wanted to put my kids on the school bus, it would collect my kids an hour and a half before school starts. They would have to sit on that bus going around the houses having probably woken up about 5am in the morning !!!!!!!! Then of course they would have the same long and tedious journey home!!!!!! If they car in a private car the journey takes takes only 35 mins! Now tell me what would you choose, bus or car???

Alot of employees are also given their accommodation and are unable to live near the school and this in turn increases the volume of traffic on the roads.

We could also ask, why are so many schools built next to each other. It is not unusual to see 6 schools built right next to each other and drop off and pick up is nothing short of a nightmare.

I can't understand why planning permission has been given to allow this!

Personally i think that schools and offices should have different starting times but that's only my opinion.

in my daughters school, they charge 500 QR for transportation..her school is near my office, and my office timings match hers too.. so it makes sense for me to drop and collect her..

i am sure there will be others like me..

if all schools use the Karwa bus service, then Mowasalat too can make money, plus the charges will be uniform..

Bless7 is absolutely rt, it will take off a lot of cars off the road during the peak hours...
