Sarah Palin did not know Africa was a continent, McCain aides have allegedly claimed.
A Fox News anchor claimed McCain aides told him of Mrs Palin's ignorance on Africa - and that she did not know what countries were in North America.
Aides also allegedly claimed Mrs Palin spent "thousands more" than the $150,000 reported on clothes during the campaign - to the shock of the donor who paid her bill - and that she answered the door to McCain aides in her hotel room in just a towel.
Other reports claim that Mrs Palin spent thousands more on a shopping spree at high-end department stores than the campaign had expected.
Newsweek claimed that though the McCain camp publicly supported the Alaska governor, in private aides were fuming over the amount of money she spent on clothes.
Mrs Palin was reportedly told to buy herself three new suits and hire a stylist in the run-up to the Republican National Convention.
Instead, one angry aide claimed, she embarked on a "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast" shopping spree - to the shock of the wealthy donor footing the bill.
Newsweek also claimed Palin used low-level staffers to buy some of the clothes on their credit cards. The McCain campaign found out last week when the aides sought reimbursement.
It is also alleged that Mrs Palin and Mr McCain barely spoke in the final weeks of the campaign, with Mr McCain preferring to consult with older, more experienced political friends.
Aides claimed the details of her clothes spending were kept from Mr McCain for fear he would be offended by it.
Newsweek also reported Mrs Palin asked to speak along with Mr McCain at his Arizona concession speech Tuesday night, but campaign strategist Steve Schmidt vetoed the request.

has hit back at her critics calling them 'cowards' and 'jerks' for deriding her anonymously.
Palin has denied accusations and insisted she never asked for the expensive wardrobe purchased for her use on the presidential campaign.
'I never asked for anything more than a Diet Dr. Pepper once in a while,' she said as she returned to the governor's office from her two-month odyssey as the Republican vice presidential nominee.
She claimed the Republican National Committee paid for the tens of thousands of dollars in designer clothes and accessories.
Palin also lashed out at the anonymous Republican campaign sources cited in a Fox News report who claimed she did not know Africa was a continent and could not name the three countries in the North American Free Trade Agreement - Canada, the United States and Mexico.
She denied the allegations, saying: 'I consider it cowardly' that they did not allow their names to be used.'
Typically, 75% of American national politicians don't have a passport and job #1 is always a domestic agenda for any national politician. The woman, after all, is a governess from the Artic.

Your observations are correct. However, she "allowed' herself to be thrust into the limelight by becoming a public figure. She also did herself no favours by some of her actions and comments.
It is rather distressing the level of sexism this whole post has created. And some of the above comments are undeniably sexist. When you attack the woman not the policies then you are behaving in a prejudiced pre conditioned manner.
Sarah Palin may not have stirred our hearts the same way Condolizza Rice or Hilary Clinton does. Neither would I have voted for her if I were American but come on folks and give the woman a break.
She was plucked from obscurity and thrown straight into the lime light and given no time to properly formulate a policy other than the party line. Rice and Clinton are professionals that have been in the public eye a lot longer and are more polished because of it.
Beware of falling into the trap of mob acceptance of false or exagerated news reporting just because it is more entertaining than the truth.

Palin is not part of the right wing of the Republican party. She is more on the fringe with the religious right. She was viewed by many as a drag on the party even by Republicans themselves. Many see her as the main reason why McCain lost the election, though not the only reason.
She is following The Bright President Bush's footsteps in
her deep understanding and general knoweldge, it is becoming the republican party legacy.

I got other issues that are more important, than her personal agenda. What she needs to do is stop giving birth at her age, hunting moose and focus on learning, how to govern her state before aiming for the White house.
I would start worrying about her, four years from today. She is just a washout, who got accuse of ethics violation.
