What happened to the bridge on Ras Abu Abboud

They already had that bridge/overpass since and it was nicely done, no problems at all. Why did they demolish the old one and make a new one? Is anything around here temporary, even on roads and buildings?

Due to works pertaining to New Doha International Airport, roads on its peripheral were re-routed and or widened.

Hence, the sad faith of the "nicely done" bridge you mentioned. Even the hotel landmarks nearby were not spared.
