Big-time doubt-Ladies only!

okay girls....this is a doubt that has been bugging me since quite some time.i've been using this particular shampoo since a few months.it promises to give health and shine to hair.but there are other shampoos which give bounce, strength, volume, etc.is it okay if i mix a couple of shampoos and use?i asked one of my friends and she says it's not advisable....

what do y'all think?

Yeah I was brought up in Doha from when i was abt 2 yrs old. Olive oil is what mom used to apply on my hair and skin coz coconut oil was not readily available then in Qatar.

U know Kellys Olive Oil is supposed to be excellent for hair n skin- I'm a first hand living example for that. Although I dont do a lot of maintenance now my mom used to apply olive oil on my hair a lot when i was a kid- so I have thick and very healthy hair now... of course work, stress and age has now taken a toll on it but still its a lot healthier that it would have been if i'd been takin care of it when i was a kid:)

Any of you ladies have trouble with thinning hair try taking Kelp, I have been using it and finding a big difference. An older women friend of mine has a head of hair they to me that looked like a wig it was so full and she said she was told a long while ago to take Kelp. Only problem is I don't know if its available here, maybe GNC could order Kelp pills.

but those home-made stuff did make a lot of sense even scientifically.that's why our ancestors didn't have as many hair problems as we do today.in fact hair maintenance was never an issue back then, almost everybody had good hair.

I remember we were using home-prepared olive oil based soap. In cases of dry hair, olive oil bath for the hair. And in case of dandruff, we were using lemon juice.

Am afraid we need some more ingredients and we will turn our head into a salad bowl

Well u know Loreal is a big thing in India and all the good hair salons in Bangalore use Loreal professional products. So if i go for a hair cut I usually get a wash and blow dry and set along with the hair cut they use a loreal professional shampoo and conditioner and hair smoothening serum etc. And after that and my hair looks simply awesome, even if I dont wash my hair for a few days it'll still looks really great and feels great. But the problem is once I wash it it becomes extremly rough and like its gone through some kinda chemical wash or something.

But there are days when I dont have to go to the salon and my hair looks exactly like the day of my haircut, its usually a day or 2 after shampooing, was wondering if there are some products that are not harmful for the hair (like Loreal) that i can use on a daily basis thats good for my hair.

The only difference I find in shampoos is the actual detergent feel of them. Some shampoo you wash with makes your hair feel like straw.

I honestly have never noticed any difference between any shampoos that I've used. And I've used a lot, you know how it is here. You get what they happen to have that day!

They're all pretty much the same thing anyway, regardless of their claims, so I don't see how mixing would be a problem.

I've used all kinds of shampoos too but more than the shampoos and conditioners I feel what really makes my hair , skin glow is the water, my diet and the weather. But all these ladies in TV they have such shiny beautiful hair everyday... I wonder how they do it... I know there are some products they use to give the xtra shine and make the hair smooth n silky but I donno how safe they are.

I have tried just about everything on the market (I am a hair product addict). I hate to spend a fortune on shampoo and the best I have found so far is Tresemme. For intensive conditioners it has to be Aussi 3 minute miracle.

except that whatever is in one, might counteract the other's effectiveness...so why bother? Case in point...you use a shampoo used for moisture, which usually contains a bit of oil...then mix it with a clarifying shampoo...you just deleted the oil from the mixture because that's what a clarifying shampoo does... Just alternate days you use the different shampoos. Be much better for your hair

Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked, the good fortune to run into the ones I do,and the eyesight to tell the difference.

Never heard mixing shampoo to be a problem...might have to look into that. I have heard that a protein based shampoo is best and it is the conditioner that effects the hair more. What about mixing conditioners?

thanks for the advice, dear.was a bit confused actually.well,my friend didn't exactly put a finger down on as to WHY she thinks mixing shampoos is not a good idea.she says if that was possible then every company would make an all-effect shampoo too.coz everyone wants their crowning glory to look the best.i tried reasoning with her that it could be a marketing strategy too.she didn't seem to agree.....

My stylist actually recommends that I change shampoos every once in a while. The reasoning is that your hair becomes used to the particular shampoo and looses a bit of it effectiveness.

I mix shampoos, I generally use moisturizing but I do use a clarifying shampoo for a week or so every couple of months.

Did your friend say why you shouldnt use different shampoos?
