Temporary license question

Hi sorry to bother you guys with this question as I dont kow if its been covered.

I am currently on a family visit visa, so I got a temporary driving license, however its expired now, as it was only valid up until my visa expires. However I have now extended my family visa and so I wish to extend the temporary license.

Does anyone know if I have to go through the whole application form process again, the usual, permission letter in arabic, appropriate forms in arabic, new pictures etc.

Or can I just take my existing temporary license and my visa and ask for them to renew it again?

When I first arrived I was on visit visa for a few months and also had a temp license. If memory serves, you can just go back into the traffic dept with your new visa renewal (take a copy as well) and your expired license and I think they just renew without all the forms.
