1. What are the main landmarks ( like Petrol stations, hotels, ATM machines etc..) on the way ( with distance from doha )

2. Is abaya a must for woman?

3. What is the time when it is least delay in Qatar-Saudi border while going from doha , and UAE-Saudi border while returning?

4. Some good maps? ( I wish to take printouts from Wikimapia ( but I can't read Arabic, and all details in Arabic! ). Can somebody help??

5.I wish to start at about 1600 Hrs from Doha. Is it OK? ( from the point of view of Safety, rest, etc etc )

For a rare traveller like me, I feel this GPS is expensive. Any other options?

I got Garmin 760 2 weeks ago and it costed me Qr.2000/- from Garmin authorized showroom in Souq Jober. There is alos Garmin 710 for Qr.1550. Both these devices comes with GCC maps loaded. If can also inquire for other models if you have a limited budget. I am sure, if you have on in your pocket, you will never be lost again.

As said before Abahay is must in Saudi and if you plan to take some regular breaks or if you have another person to drive along with you, then I think 16 hours is fine.

All the best and kindly drive safe and do not drive if you are stressed or tired. Take frequent breaks and short naps if required.

the best equipment for a road trip is a GPS Navigator (i have GARMIN NUVI 760 with Middle East Map installed). it shows all the places (atms, hotels, gas stations etc). it's my best friend to find anywhere i want.

in Saudi Arabia, all women (doesn't matter if she is an expat or not) MUST wear abaya at all times in public.

i wish you a good trip.
