I have been here in Doha for 4 months already working as a project secretary for an Irish Engineering and Construction firm. I was an English Teacher back in the Philippines for two years but decided to come for a greener pasture. However, it seems to me right now that I would rather be in my home country as long as I love my job. Money was never a motivation to me, I dont know why, one this is for sure, I never learned to love my job.I dont know whats my real purpose of posting this, maybe I want to hear opinions and enlightening ideas.

you don't know the reasons why you are here, you don't know what motivates you, and you don't even know why you are posting your forum post...... hmmmmm, that's Homesickness. All single, and lonely first timers experience that.

the first time i worked in the middle east (bahrain), i was single, alone, lonely, and lived in a flat with just an AC, a bed, a sofa, and a kitchen, but no TV and Internet. I went crazy and ran home to Philippines for an emergency vacation , just after 3 months of working.

reach out and socialize my friend, and most of all, look at your paycheck all the time. That's the main reason you are here. Not the opportunity, not the career, and definitely not the learning.

but in the end,... do whatever makes you happy man. you are young anyway.

actually you are right there is nothing in qatar. the most wrost thing is the weather atleast in our countries and your you get four seasons if money it not the reason for your to come then just think about that you are away from your family. qatar doesnt have any professionalism to offer also so atleast for me if you are going to be away from your family then there should be a strong reason and i dont see any in qatar..

rest its upto you to decide.

hi!!i'm also new here in doha, almost 3 months now..so far, i'm not feeling homesick(i know i will if not sooner,it's later). I just go with the flow...find new friends here..it helps..have fun..work??just work with it..if it won't work, then find your way back home..maybe your homesickness will be healed there...as for now, observe and think over again...decide for the better..

cheer up!it's not yet the end of the world...lolz

God bless! :-)

Just wondering if you get out all that often? do u have many good close friends here? coz if you do home is the last thing u'll be thinking about. Money sure isnt everything, but then think about it..money is what makes the world go round now a days. U say money isnt motivation for you so then what exactly did u mean by greener pastures?

In life u have a make a few sacrifices, everyone doesnt love their jobs or the people they work with but at the end of the month u get paid for your hard work and u get the satisfaction that you've earned it. Family and friends will always be around, but a good opportunity to earn a little extra if you can only comes to select few. Thats just my opinion :) join up with ur fellow filipino mates, join the very own QL Filexpat group i'm sure they have loads of fun, or the QL social Group we are always doing something for fun and never get bored :D

Hope this makes u feel better..cheer up life's a b*tch ;)

Good Fortune always comes knocking at your door...when you are sh*tting in the toilet!! :)

Could it be separation anxiety?

You've been separated from everyone and everything that you get used to, like you're now out of your comfort zone. I didn't feel that during my first months here, but now, I miss my job in a bank back home. I plan to go back to the job that I miss but not in the Philippines, here.

I hope you'll be ok, as I'm trying to be.

The green green grass of home is a callin..

If money is not a motivation for being here and you can get a job back home, then go for it..

Nothing better than being with family and friends..

If you don't like the job you have option to leave it and go back home... it is good for you once you leave this country you cannot come here in Qatar for long time... so you will be forced to live in your country which you LOVE... I feel also that I am tired of foreign life...
