Hi all,

Im an Irish guy coming ver in December to work in PR. Would really appreciate any tips/ advice to some of my annoying questions

How much is the average rent per month?
Is there good bars and nightclubs?
At weekends is there a good social scene or possibility of joining clubs to do some adventure sports?
What is the dress for work, is it all suits or business casual?
Where are some of the nice areas to live?

Any other tips really appreciated

Thanks

There are numerous versions of Irish Stew.... Some even with Guiness as an ingredient..

Irish stew is not to be found in resto...but new areas like Gharaffa - near Villagio is cool place to stay ---wide roads, parking, good dining places.

Rent - depends on where you are wanting to live. I live in probably one of the worst areas in Doha and I pay 7,500 for a 2 bedroom unfurnished apartment. If you are looking to stay in a villa in a decent area expect to pay around 15,000+ but you always have the option of sharing.

Dress - suits - pretty formal over here.

There is not that much to do in the way of nightlife but as was said before the few places that are here are packed.

What to do on the weekend? - Lots of people take their 4wh drive and go into the sand dunes - heaps of fun. You can also hire 4wh bikes and take them into the dunes which is fantastic. Go to the beach. Spend the day at one of the hotels and lounge by the pool.

In the city there is not too much to do aside from going to the hotels and having brunch, seeing a movie or visiting one of the malls.

West Bay is one of the nicest areas to say here - lots of wealthy expats but some great villas.

Hey,

Rent is very very very high, average rent for say a two bedroom is roughly QAR 9,000 per month, however you can share accomodation for around QAR 3,500 a month.

Compared to home, no there are no good bars and nightclubs, however the few we have are packed and generally once you lower your standards you should enjoy them.

Outdoor activities are a bit hard to find here, although there is scuba diving, kite skiing, and blo-karting.

Business suits.

Ummm, anywhere is nice really......
