So what do people do in Doha for Halloween? Is there trick-o-treating? Haunted houses, etc??

my kids are counting down the days, but I am not sure what people do here...

thanks! :-)

there is a party store in the Gulf Shopping Center that has tons of Halloween stuff for kids and adults, they are located at Khaleej and Salwa which is across from Al Jaidah Motors at the Jaida Round about.

Life expectancy would grow by leaps and bounds if green vegetables smelled as good as bacon.

To Supernurse: Halloween is just a simple holiday that is fun for kids. It is not about anything demonic to the majority of it's participants. The kiddies just want to dress up and get some candy.

My daughter is 6 and we bought her costume at the Carefour (I don't know how to spell the name properly). There wasn't too much to choose from (actually I think they had 3 different costumes), but she has her costume. As for trick or treating, we don't know where to go so we were planning on giving a bunch of the guys my husband works with candy and just going back and forth a few times. Even when we're home we don't normally trick or treat for too long so I figure this will be sufficient.

Also, I noticed that this thread went off onto American politics. I'm just wondering why so many people are so concerned with what goes on in our country. I certainly don't care whose the next Prime Minister of GB or anywhere else. I mean I realize America is seen as powerful, but seriously!! I'm not trying to be rude, but American politics can be difficult even for an American to understand and I highly doubt most foreigners have a solid grasp on what's going on. I really am not trying to be rude, but I must say that your opinions are probably baseless.......and maybe you should focus on the politics of your own country and maybe one day it will be center stage. I'm actually hoping for Obama as well, but I'm sure our reasoning is much different.

events have adult, pet and kid costumes....

Trick or treating is always at compounds. Generally houses participating are recognized my a halloween banner, pumkin etc......

very safe system really.......

no point in doing it via the stand alone villas......

I have only seen them at Hyatt Plaza...The Giant store and the Kids Zone...nothing for adults though. Unless you want a scary mask, they did have some of those at Giant...good luck!!

Amar353, where did you find costumes for kids? Or any advise how to make a costume?

We'd like to find costumes for adults as well, we're having a Halloween party soon.

But on reading my comment I can see why you made your comment! Yikes. I'm the mum of a 3yo and a 1yo. . .definitely not a freak. (Maybe freaking out because of my kids, but that's another story!)

I'm organizing a starting a Doha-wide Mums & Kids group (not public yet) that will kick off with a Halloween Party. . . and I know of several schools that have organized parties. . .but I'm not going to post any of those details for exactly the reason you mentioned.

Good grief did my post sound scary - sorry!!!

Let's try that again. . .

If they are in school, check with the school to see if they have a party organized. . .ditto for your compound. And watch the board for the announcement for the new Mums and Kids party (run by a mum, not a ped!!)

And where do they go to school? I have heard that certain schools and compounds have parties. . .may be able to steer you in the right direction if I know their ages.

No! Halloween breeds interest in the black arts and defacing pumpkins! Its all evil when alls said and done........and I don't agree with cobwebs either...

Amar, do live in a compound? Some of the compounds have trick-or-treating.
