why is there discrimination entering shopping malls these days?

Having read an article in The Peninsula yesterday regarding the ban of bachelors during the so called "Family Day" in most of the malls I find it very disturbing and yes discriminatory. Why do they have to emphasize bad smelling ones? What about those smoking inside the malls?

There should be a compromise between laborers and families . I do no think that it is good to be mixed . Just because the disproportion of male and female .

But I think the laborers should have the right to enter anywhere - just there should be "laborers only" day - and everybody should be informed about that .

I am very sad reading that hardworking male residents are beaten up by police here -just because they wish to enter some areas of the city .

This disgraceful practice is not acceptable at all -and there are another ways to live in peace with each other .Simply authorities should inform well the single male when and where they have the right to enter .

It is so simple !

To me it is not a discrimination as long as they don't allown any single person to enter. But just to restrict asian or labor class they it does so. They need to call this "High Class" day rather than calling it Family Day.

We are in 21st century and I think this discimination is the latest way of colour prejudice which was a problem of the 20th century in some countries. I read a post from a lady saying that there were 3 men roaming arround her asking if she needs a taxi. They are not the representatives of all the bachelors or working men in Qatar. As per my knowledge they are having private taxis and were trying to get their daily income from her.

Another thing I noticed that the Mall Management or the concerned authorities are not worried if the couples are married or just friends. It is not a family day in the malls but it is a man & women together day. If you are a smelling bachelor try to get a lady (any nationality) to get you in. If you are together with a lady they will let you in so it is a sort of mockery on bachelors. I am frequently visiting Dubai and I did not see anything like this in the biggest shopping malls there. I used to see many girls whom I know as bachelors going with their boy friends to City Centre.

Do you mean if you come with an elderly lady, we assume she is your mother and ask you to produce a birth certificate???? Well boy grow up. A family could mean any relation and the family day restriction only intends to portray a message to these nasty wanderers that one has to give privacy and space to even people who need time with each other. I am sure you will agree again that we live in a foreign country, no rule for that matter is just for expatriates no matter you live here or there. And moreso its true rules apply only to us whilst the locals are free to do anything. But we must try to protect our dignity and show that we are far more better than others in our beliefs, values and respect for one another.

Its very much required.......weekends should be exclusively family days.... too many labours entering malls not for shopping but for fun with lustful eyes making families feel uncomfortable.

Its a good step in the right direction.

If the malls really want to implement the so called "Family Day", they should ask the couples entering the malls to show their marriage certificates and not just a boyfriend or girlfriend.

Dear Reader,

While you may be among the hundreds of being a gentleman, i mean who may look at a lady in a modest way, you will certainly agree with me, lest you deny the fact, that there is a lot of eve teasing and harassment from men following women. A family day restriction is very important especially in malls that get so crowded to keep away from such lustful people. Recently, I had an experience at lulu hypermarket where i had to wait for my husband to pick me after shopping. There were these three men (wonder if they were all involved) continously roaming around me and trying to talk to me. One even tried asking if I need a taxi? All that time they were like a total nuisance. This point I think is a major issue not the odour of people around or that they drink or smoke.

Thanks
