How do you actually get a doctor appointment here??
I was referred to a cardiologist by the emergency room at a local private hospital but every time I call to make an appointment the receptionist wants to take down my number and says she'll call back but never does. Do I have to go just show up and refuse to leave until they see me or what? How does anyone get an actual return call to schedule a doctor's appointment around here?
The best thing is to go to the out patients clinic (HMC) and go to the section of cardiology and then go to the appointment desk for that section. Show them the referral from the doctor and ask for an appointment. This is the only sure way to get an appointment.
Isn't that annoying! But yes, I'd have to say that when I want something to happen I don't call, I show up and deal in person. That way they can't ignore me or put me on hold. And if I need to speak to someone else I am there to politely request/insist.
