Will and LCD TV from the US work in Qatar?

I am planning on bringing over an LCD TV purchased in the US. It's dual voltage, so that would not be an issue, but I've been told I would need a PAL to NTSC converter to watch TV. The input in Qatar would be from the sattelite box (or DVD player) to the TV, so I would not be using the tuner at all.

The price differential is subtantial. I can get a LG 42" LCD 1080p in the US for around US$ 1200 (QR 4400) and similar TVs in Qatar look to be priced around QR 6500. It would go over with my household shipment, so shipping cost is not a factor.

Does anyone know if it would work without a PAL to NTSC converter?

IF and that's a big IF, I remember to check when I get home, I'll see if the Satellite decoder is switchable.

It will work fine. Just ensure the Electrical ratings. Its 220 V/50Hz in Qatar. You may need to use a convertor in case the TV is rated to operate at 120V.

I have checked and the tuner is only ATSC/QAM/NTSC not PAL. But as I said, the input would be from the sattelite box.

Have you checked your TV is NTSC only. The reason I ask is that my projector is switchable. Just might be worth a quick check?
