Toyota seems to be the 4x4 of choice in Qatar.

You've done well in narrowing your choices down, don't get too distracted.

I hope you have had a test drive in each? Sometimes a vehicle has features or lack of them that niggle you, too late if you are already committed.

Between those two, I would suggest that the Honda will have the better warranty, air conditioning and definitely resale value.

I would further suggest that a RAV 4 will have even better air conditioning and resale value! But the warranty won't equal Hondas Lifetime drivetrain warranty.

Honda owners may be able to comment on how much the servicing costs them to remain eligible for that warranty.

I would suggest the following features to consider in buying a vehicle for Qatar

(assuming you have already decided on the type of car, which you already have)

1. Air conditioning! Make sure it works, fast, on the hottest day. My experience and that of friends is that Toyota is always best at this test, in Qatar. Nissan and Honda are also good, I have no experience with Suzuki here.

2. Performance , particularly when accelerating at a roundabout. Don't go off reviews or horsepower, do this test yourself. Transmissions have a large part to play in this as well as horsepower.

3. Reliability. Qatar is tough on cars. Really tough. Toyota is King here for a very good reason! A good warranty is nice as a back-up, but more regular service intervals are a hassle and often cost a lot. Will you get a coutesy car during service/ repair?

4. Resale value. Toyota seems to rule this too, with Honda coming second. Suzuki is way down this list. Unless you seriously don't care about the money!

I have driven both CRV's and Grand Vitaras (but not here). I would way prefer the CRV. But here? I would test drive the CRV and the RAV 4, and decide on which had the better aircon, as long as they both did well at the roundabout.

Good luck!

Tough question, but I'd have to go with the CRV since I think it has a better crash test rating. But, Suzuki will always hold a special place in my heart, since the first car I ever owned was a Suzuki.

I prefer the Grand Vitara if I'll choose between Vitara & CRV.

But I suggest for you Jeep Grand Cherokee.

I have just restricted to Suzuki & Honda coz they r more compact and easy to handle than any other SUV's in the mid range.....Toyota's RAV 4 is out of question since itz performance is not that exciting for a 4WD. I just have to finalize between the above too in all aspects....thanks for the opinion!

well, so you're only choosing between the grand vitara & crv? hmmmm... crv maybe is better in performance but the appearance of the grand vitara is better to that of the crv...

if your options are open, try the ford explorer, chevrolet trailblazer, chevrolet captiva, toyota rav 4, gmc envoy... these are also 5 seater SUVs (except for the ford explorer which is 7 seater)...
