Offered a job in Doha - Bringing family along
By aalooparathay •
Hullo everyone
I've been offered a job in Doha as a senior engineer in a construction management company. The company is going to sponsor me for a visa in a few days time. I was wondering whether my wife and infant son could travel to Qatar with me. If yes, how to go about that?
OR
I go about applying for their RP after arriving in Qatar, and getting my permit stamped and all. How long does that take?
Thanks for any and all replies
i think you should first settle down here... even if take 2 - 3 months... complete all these formalities... arrange some housing and transportation etc.. and then bring your family otherwise it will be suffering...
after you arrived in Qatar, the processing of your residence permit itself will take around 6 weeks. after 6 weeks you will apply for your family visa that will take another 4 weeks at the minimum. at the earliest you could take them at least 2 months after you arrive. depending on the government calendar, and depends on your company how fast the could process it for you.
We are on the same situation man! I tried to negotiate with the new company regarding the same matter. But after all the deal, it all added up to one answer. "NO" you cannot bring them along with you. You have to go first, process medical, work visa, residence permit. Then after you yourself will request your company to sponsor for you or you yourself will aplly a family status visa for your wife & kids then after documents were approved. It will be the right time for you to bring them to Qatar. Or else if you know somebody who can help you, try to find a Qatari sponsor for a visit visa (or a travel agency) you can trust because this will cost you a lot too!
Goodluck my friend!
