is applying to Al jazeera a good option?
salaam everyone,
i'm thinking of applying to al jazeera english, and have been reading some conflicting opinions on the web about the state of the channel.
can someone give an update as to how things stand now, with the new management and everything? did the matter of benefits, accomodation etc get sorted out? since i'm married i need to think of all of this...had i still been single, it wouldn't have been 'that' important...but oh well. Yes, and the life, how is that? i know 'its what you make of it', but still...a general idea would be great!
i'm currently employed with an english news channel here in pakistan, and have 4 years of radio and 2 years of television behind me as well (don't know why i'm reading out my cv here :P)
anyway, thanks a bunch in advance...love the site and the forum, you guys seem so friendly!
cheers
Aasim
thanks for the input guys!
anyone here currently at AJ? i suppose they'd be in a better position to talk about benefits, job security, accomodation etc...do fill me in guys, and thanks in advance!
Peace
ps. and what's qatarization?
the world's never been like this, we are the age people will talk about many years from now.
as far as i know looking at the packages offered to professionals, its one of the best and leading one in whole Qatar , and is said to be bankrolled by a Sheikh.
well, the question is how you get recruited and finalaising other formalities, if everythin goes well and good then i hope u need not look back. i know a lot of people are queing to get in over there especially someguys who work on temporary contract basis.
Wish you Success

As long as they give you a good package ( and for cost of living in Doha you can check out the thread on QL) then go for it.. Good Luck !
qatarization? what in the world is that?

From what I hear things are ok there, and they are one of the best benefits and salary packages around. Only downside is CID clearance, my friend was rejected twice and said that there were many others in the same boat... something to do with Qatarization.
