bainning cigarettes?

i've been observing what the goverment are doing for a sometime now

i've noticed that all the markets in my neighbourhood is banned from selling cigarettes??

not only our neighbourhood, also many other markets around qatar!!

their excuse is that tey don't want cigerettes to be sold to school kids

however, those markets are more than 5 kilos away from schools

even on the corniche....all the markets there are banned from selling cegerettes

are they planning to minimize the number of smokers in Qatar or are they trying to banned in qatar in the end

what do u think?

Oh and for the smoking I think they should be banned from all public places and they shud increase the tax on cigarettes. Smoking is bad for health. Period.

aaah, this issue has been discussed countless times... tobacco is a huge industry, many economies actually rely on it as its sole forex earner... so banning it will never happen... yes, governments are "trying to promote health" of their citizens but i think its a whole lot of bull dust...

banning smoking in cars??? cummon!!! give one reason why? if im smoking in my car with my window rolled down (which opens up to the whole universe) and you are sitting in your car with the windows rolled up (because, be honest, they wouldnt be down unless you enjoy the heat or you were smoking) how am i harming you??

i agree with the shopping malls coz thats an enclosed area which contains a lot of people BUT and a big BUT there should be smoker's rooms.... thats what im gonna do when i become king of the world.... oop, i mean queen... i will put smokers rooms everywhere... lol, actually, ill put non-smokers rooms everywhere where non smokers can go breathe some fresh air...

LOL :)

just let smokers be.... :)

banned? it will never happen in my perception... to avoid hazards to other people who never smokes just try to implement rigorously rules that will help the public. It should be no one is above the law...

well

this topic was raised for discussion

but for ppl who got me wrong and think i'm against smoking

I'M NOT

i'm a smoker and i'm actually complaining about banning cigerettes.

but i totally agree with banning smoking in malls and smoking in cars.

Why not just nab those smokers inside the malls or coffee shops where a huge "no smoking" signs are posted? Why are the management tolerating such act? I've seen some police roaming inside the mall, they just pass by those smokers and yet haven't done anything. Such a pity ...

About time too. Filthy habit. Walter "Rather-A-Wally" Raleigh has a lot to answer for!

I read somewhere about a tax being put on them - let's hope it's at least 200%. This will go a long way towards the medical care for these chronic suicides.
