Qatar Living Social Group (QLSG) Farm Trip

novita77
By novita77

After a long hibernation because of the hot weather, our Qatar Living Social Group (QLSG) big boss taking us out again on one of his famous outdoor get togethers. This time we went to the farm.

Meeting point was in Family Food Centre car park at 4.45pm, Da planned to leave at 5pm. It wasn’t a perfect place to meet, approaching an iftar time the car park was packed. Hard to see which cars are belonging to the group and which are not.

My other half not coming this time, so Oryx and Irrysa keep me company in the car (thanks ladies ! xxx). My son realise he would be the only kid in the car, he whined that he will get bored … asked me whether he could go to somebody else car. I gave him a choice, he can go to Sylwiastep’s car (her daughter in the same class with my son) or Helenann’s car. He chose to go to Sylwia’s. So atthe FFC carpark I let him ‘migrated’ to Sylwiastep’s car

We left at 5pm sharp … being a slower driver, I got left behind by DaRuDe … …. (he obviously worked for Ferrari in his past life!!!) he had to wait for me in Dukhan highway … and then I managed to catch up with him. DaRuDe gave a sign to put the hazard light on, everybody does it. Felt like an important convoy with all the ‘blinking light’. Again Da … thank you for putting up with my slow driving.

First stop we went to the camel farm. After the turn off we stopped and he counted the cars, I think he said around 35 cars were in the group … Did some ‘off roading’ to the camel farm, said hello to the ‘camels’ … took some snaps then we off again for a short drive to the guest house.

We supposed to milk the camel at the farm, but apparently the camel man was hungry so he milked it in advance and left for iftar. I did not try it ... did you guys tried the milk?

Next DaRuDe took us to the guest house.

Boss DaRuDe brought QLSG members here previously at the beginning of this year to the same place, at that time the place was really messy because it was under construction. This time the place is done up … ….. it is more like a palace than a place. Big majlis (spelling?) and big long dining table … … and a nice swimming pool at the front.

Kids were really enjoying themselves. Big one and the small one. We even have our QLSG ‘baywatch’ rescue team consist of Jilfer, King Edshel, Muffy and Khanan.
And it seems this time Tcom hiring Irrysa doing the BBQ as an assistant. Meat was really nice ! Thanks Irrysa and Tcom !

Every time the group went out for outdoor outing, we always split up the chores for what to bring, this time I have to bring soft drink. Cooler box was too heavy … then Vukpop helped me to carry the cooler box from the car to the dining room, after that my heroes, Vukpop & Drac fighting to take back from dining room to the car. Thanks for your help guys, I appreciated that!

About 9pm ish … some people ready to go home. I had a late night the day before so I decided to go early with this group. I am not very confident driving in the desert in ‘unfamiliar’ place. And there was a (I think blue colour! ) saloon car that was patiently driving in front of me at a reasonable speed … the driver always giving me a ‘sign’ every time we pass a humped … and he/she made sure I come off to the right turn off when we pass the roundabout. Whoever you are, thank you very much!

I dropped Oryx in FFC carpark … …. then I drove home. I enjoyed the trip even though getting left behind by the boss, I am looking forward the next outing.

I hope you do not laugh at me but I lost my way back inside Rayyan. Even my GPS started acting weird. It came back to normal when I was almost home.

I think Red Poo is now practicing his English/Welsh/Scotish/Irish accent:)

leave the ins and outs of QLSG to those who are members.

As you do for social skills what leprosy does for skin care.... i really think QLSG is not something that even needs to enter your horizon....

You are also free to start your own social group.

The QLSG rule is:

Acceptance into the Social Group will be determined by the time period you have been a member of QL, and the number of points you have accumulated. Approval for the membership is not only based on how long you have been in the forum or the points you have accummulated but also how you participate in the general forum.

If the INVITE will be for ALL. it would make some of us uneasy and uncomfortable. We already had experiences with weirdoes in one of two group gatherings and from those who seek friendship. I guess if you were in our shoes, you wouldn't want that.

I didn't mean to offend you, Abohmaid or act to be better than anyone...I do apologize coz i should have been more clear the first time.

Hashin sitting there complaining about NONMUSLIMS being inconsiderate and setting up the trip during Ramadan...FELLA...the one setting up the entire trip IS MUSLIM!!! He was considerate enough to make sure we left early enough to get to the farm so that Iftar was held at the camel camp with sufficient time and effort. Please...do us all a favor and keep your rude comments to yourself and as far as I am concerned..please don't come to any of the group gatherings if all you are going to do is complain and slam everyone when you don't know anything about us or offer to help. Remember..if you aren't part of the solution, then you are part of the problem.

Hashin

Maybe we need to extend Ramadan for 90 days more, that way, you could fast a little bit longer, until your muscles dry out from your bones.

Darude

Apparently Fasting should energized the spirit and make the flesh more humble. In this case is making the tongue harsher and the mind cloudy.

Did you show them our Donkey?

I'm shipping a mule horse to your farm.

atleast you aren't attacking me but trying to reason...

But the moment I read about this outing and how it would start an hour before sunset and then go on till 11pm, it seemed very alienating for me as a muslim.

Because the fag end of a day of fasting is the most tiring and to spend that in a car is not a fascinating prospect. And there is a prayer during Ramadhan which starts at 7:45 and goes on until 9:00 or so... so again its very inconvenient...

My honest feedback is that if QLSG does not want to alienate practising muslims and be more inclusive, it should avoid such oversights.

But lets face it... an outing starting one hour before sunset and going on until 11pm during Ramadhan is not muslim friendly... What with iftar at 5:45pm and tharaviya at 7:45pm. I am not complaining, its just an observation... You want to hang me for telling you why I didn't show interest... go ahead and do so... but eventually it will reflect on the overall composition of the group...

It's not only you who weren't able to go...yet they did not say the NON-MUSLIMS are INCONSIDERATE.

If you have an issue with the timing, you could have voiced it out BEFORE and not after the ACTIVITY. Or address it to DARUDE, the QLSG Manager.

Let us see after Ramadan...then tell again that the NON-MUSLIMS ARE INCONSIDERATE...coz from what I see, you are the one being so....

The Timing were considerate

every one had their break at the camp next to the camel place.

and the Azan was at that same time when we were INSIDE THE FARM WITH CARS PARKED AND TOGETHER.

Funny that there were a lot of muslims there and no one complained.

Tell you what, next time why don't you organize something? Then you do it where you want it, when you want it and you'll have no reason to complain.

So am I wrong in making a suggestion that outings such as these should keep in mind iftar timings?

If you are...then your comment is INCONSIDERATELY DONE...

if not...you keep your opinions to yourself...coz I for one don't want you to be around...

Wow, this truly amazes me.

Darude goes through the trouble of pulling something like that off and some people still complain! Now I say that complaining is not considerate at all!

arranging an outing an'all... hats off to darude for pulling it off... 35 cars, truly marvellous...

However, scheduling it during Ramadhan which would make iftar and prayer inconvenient was not very considerate...

I know darude would probably contend that he had his iftar in the car, but the nonmuslims in the group ought to have been more considerate towards the practising muslims in the group and scheduled it a lot earlier or else wait till after iftar... so that people did not end up having iftar in their cars...
