water hot also during summer?
By jeant7_arch •
just want to know regarding the water in doha. i'll be working there and accommodation will be provided by the company. is the water (when taking a bath) really hot during summer? or just in normal temperature? cos a friend told me that water is hot and that you have to fill up water in a tank say monday, to be used wednesday ... is that what is like?

Both our hot and cold are outside and we have a fan on top of the cold tank to draw out the hot air and it cools it dramatically. We have a friend who just moved into a new villa and they have some kind of "air conditioner" on their cold tank. So there are options.

In the winter I use the hot tap for hot water but in the summer I switch off the boiler in my bathroom and then I use the hot tap for cold water. Try it. it works.

hmm.. i live in a villa and its worked for me so far. in the old villas probably, which still have those copper pipes running outside, and on the terraces, the water would be scalding hot during the day...
heero-lol i am sorry if they dunno how to use the pail/bucket
corleone- in some villas even when you do turn off the heater it dont solve the problem.......unless of course the sun dont shine at all for the next couple of days or weeks then we wont have this prob.......lol
psssst, better out the front than out the back......heheehehhehehhe
all you really need to do is turn off the heater, and use the cold water tap for hot water, and vice versa. Wait for at least 10 hours after turning off the heater though :\
If you shower before 9 AM, you are ok because the water tank hasn't reached scalding yet, but much later you will almost burn yourself!

this is what i do since i got here 4 yrs ago-put a bucket/pail for each bathroom and fill it up the night before for use the next morning and then fill it up for use in the next bath........that way ya wont be screamin (in pain) or getting scalded (where ya dont want it to-lol) so far it has worked and always look fwd to my next shower with nice cool water- try it and gl

All the copper water pipe that carry the water to your faucets are not protected from the direct heat of the sun, and as copper is a good conductor of heat, your pipes go super hot and the water running inside them obviously gets hot. And like baldrick2dogs mentioned about water tanks being out so you can imagine..
Temperature these days is between 37 to 44 deg C. Pretty hot i must say.. lol

The 'cold' water tanks tend to be outside, usually on the roof, so in summer they get hot.
The 'hot' water tank is inside, usually in the bathroom or kitchen. All you need to do is turn off the heater and you have cold(ish) water out the 'hot' tap.
