Paster note: Watch out lesbo friends and keep your acts discrete.

Two foreign women have been jailed for a month for kissing and fondling each other and engaging in "indecent acts" on a public beach in Dubai, media reported on Sunday.

The Dubai Court of Appeal upheld the one-month jail sentence handed down by a lower court to the women, a 30-year-old Lebanese national and a 36-year-old Bulgarian who both pleaded not guilty, 7Days newspaper said.

Prosecutors had charged the women with kissing, groping each other and "indecent acts in public," the paper said, adding that this was the first case of its kind in the United Arab Emirates, a federation of seven states including Dubai.

According to police reports, the two women were seen being intimate with each other on Al Mamzar public beach between Sharjah and Dubai in April.

They will be deported after serving their sentences.

A BRITISH man facing jail for having sex on a Dubai beach admitted the offence before later changing his account, prosecutors said today.

Tourist Vince Acors, 34, from Bromley, south east London, initially told police he had full intercourse with fellow Briton Michelle Palmer, 36.

But he later deviated from his first statement and denied the crime, senior prosecutor Faisal Abdelmalek Ahli said.

Publishing executive Miss Palmer, from Oakham, Leicestershire, and Mr Acors were seen on a beach near the luxury Burj Al Arab hotel in the early hours of July 5.

Mr Ahli, of the Dubai Public Prosecution, said he was confident of proving the pair had sex.

“We have a very strong case,” he said today.

“We have DNA, medical reports and eyewitnesses. We also have his (Mr Acors) first statement, in which he admitted having sex with Michelle Palmer. He later denied this.”

Kissing

Miss Palmer and Mr Acors, who are both on bail in Dubai, deny charges of public indecency and having unmarried sex but admit consuming alcohol.

They are due to appear before Dubai’s Court of First Instance tomorrow.

In a statement to the court at a previous hearing, Miss Palmer said: “We were just kissing and hugging. We didn’t have sex together. I was lying on top of him.

“I have been in Dubai for two-and-a-half years without committing any kind of offence. I’m sorry.”

Mr Ahli denied reports that they could face a maximum six-year sentence.

He said they were likely to be jailed for between six months and a year if found guilty, as well as being fined and deported.

Meanwhile, it was reported today that two women convicted in May of kissing and cuddling on a public beach in Dubai were jailed for a month.

A Lebanese woman, 30, and a Bulgarian woman, 36, had their sentences and deportation confirmed yesterday by the Dubai Court of Appeal, The National newspaper, based in Abu Dhabi, said.

They had denied charges of intimate behaviour, kissing, cuddling and sleeping on top of each other, according to the newspaper.

Dubai markets itself as a party - shopping place for fun short stay holidays but has sharia law....

So the idiots are going to fall into the pit created by the contradiction...and Dubai is going to get more global publicity because of this

andrew11121 - Well the other couple was the british woman and man who were having sex on the beach and were actually told to stop before being arrested the second time by the same cop who saw them at it the first time. Not even in most modern countries in the West can you get away with sex on the beach.

The problem is that Dubai tells everyone that it's 'Modern Arabia' and '20th Century Arabia' and people get confused and think that they can get away with crap like this.

The women deserve to be punished, for sure, but Dubai needs to make it much clearer that it isn't a haven of 'modernity' in the Gulf, but that it is a conservative city which doesn't stand for acts such as these.
