pregnant in Qatar
By Beck from Aussie •
I know that a man and a woman living together when they arent married is illegal. What happens if they are caught?
Also, if the woman falls pregnant, can she receive antenatal care at the hospitls here or is there a penalty? Is this a crime? What happens?
Advice would be great thank you:)
thank you everyone. Thank you huyenqatar your post was very helpful. My friend would not be giving birth here she would be going back to Australia so from what you are saying it would be ok. I tried to call Al Ahli hopsital yesterday but there was no answer so i will have to try again just to confirm.
Thank you again:)
Better you go back ur origin.
If you found out you’re pregnant might as well go back to your country right away before things get complicated for you here in Qatar. I know someone in Bahrain (still a muslim country), she passed the x-ray scanner from the airport coz the baby was still undeveloped.
And if happen to be your fiancé and you are not muslims you can get married here just for the sake of legalities then you could raise your baby here. (Just a suggestion)
as soon as a non - married pregnant women walks into a clinic/hospital she will be reported to the police as a single pregnant woman and she will be deported!...
leave the country before you start showing and take a very long vacation. If the manager is the father, ask him...or more like tell him you'll be working remotely.
no im an aussie. It isnt me i am asking for i read it in marhaba and am interested to find out what happens.I have a friend from home who is not married and pregnant that is thinkig of visiting me here. Dont wanther to get into trouble. Definitely dont want her to go to jail or get lashings. What would happen to her and the poor child?
When my brother got married last year, my sister-in-law did not change her sponsorship from father to husband. When she got pregnant this year, she had to change sponsorship to my brother in order to get her pregnancy recognized as legal.
hey aussie
its the law. out of wedlock. no hanky panky
citizens>responsible for protecting way of life
residents>responsible for abiding by the law.
check it out with a lawyer. And also consult your embassy
Are you a philipino by any chance?
You need to produce a copy of your marriage certificate when you register for any antinetal care from any practicioner.
as for the fines well..There is a jail term and for sure and lashings [ this i READ SOMEWHERE ]... i'm not joking..
yes i read that too which is why i am wondering what happens???
It actually states in the publication Marhaba that it is illegal for a woman to have a baby in Qatar out of wedlock. As for fines and punishment then I don't know, but I wouldn't want to find out either.
