Going to Dukhan Friday, any suggestions

I want to go to Dukhan this Friday with some Colleagues. I understand that I need permission to get to the city, but what about going to the beach for a swim?

Can you please give me suggestions, and if I will be able to get to the beach without entering the city. Is there easy access off the road?

Please any info about the area would be great, it really looks beautiful and I'd like to explore around it.

Also do I need to know anything about the area, poisonous fish, oil contamination or anything like that?

Many thanks!

try to see the ostrich nature reserve, you can check on the abandoned movie set too. The beach not too bad in that area althoug rather in the 'stoney' side.

That's a secret.

No, if you go to Dukhan it is on the right side of the road about 20 km before Dukhan. There are signs at the highway.

I would be so lost without this site, it's hard to get good info on places to be.

I'm one for exploring and looking around, I really want to cover every inch of this beautiful little country. I'm not really sure why but the desert really appeals to me, and the fact that it runs into the see is awesome.

Are the waves over on Dukhan any good for surfing?

Maybe I'll see if I can borrow a 4WD from work then. I'm in my FWD Lancer GLX, not that great for getting over the dunes! :P

Thanks for the info.

Dukhan...

Why go to Dukhan only for a swim...its quite far from Doha...I guess Wakrah beach or Umm Said (Inland Sea) is nearer.

You can swim in the water alright...and need no permission for that......but don't forget to wear your swimming shorts....lol
