Cant get required amount of sleep... HELP!

Sunshine Baby
By Sunshine Baby

I cant get proper sleep of 8 hours a day. My scedule demands a wake up before 5am, and to get 8 hours I must go to sleep by 9pm. But I never get sleep at that time and ultimately sleep after 11pm. And during the day I keep falling over my chair feeling sleepy and lousy. This makes me feel very low.

Try to work out for a min of 30mins before going to bed and you'll snooze like a baby in no time.

i had the same problem when i was working at the airport.

i always slept 2 hours not more; right after i got back from work..then i went to bed at 12 and i was fine.

if u workout late in the evenings? drop it coz it will get you more awake and focused..

good luck.

..... just make a habit of drinking a glass of warm milk, it will help..... if not, vodka surely will do.

This is what I used to do.

Reading any of my favorite books while listening to good soothing light music, preferably instrumental or soft rock, anything that would make me relax and after a while when my eyes felt tired and the hypnotic effect of the music relaxed me, I would doze off, switching off the lights had become a habit. Try this relaxation technique it really works.

Are you not getting to bed on time because you arent tired? If not identify whats keeping you awake past your desired bedtime and try to rectify.

Also remember to get everything done and out of the way at least a half hour before bed.. you need to wind down.

Try to re-arrange your bedroom that will make it very comfy for you in sleeping after a nice shower. Don't count the sheeps anymore...neither the camels. Just concentrate well enough.

Hope it would be of help! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Guess you need some preparation to create habit of good sleep! -Dim lights (no TV/Computers), throwing away the stresses for the night, right food etc might help.

Also dont get tensed if you dont get 8 hrs of sleep everyday! US prescribed 4 hrs sleep were enough for their soldiers at battle front. In this terms, if you get additional sleep on weekends, you could cover your quota!

You could try Benadryl...it's the same chemical ingredient that they put in Tylenol PM and others as a sleep aid. It's cheating but if you need to make yourself fall asleep earlier it might help.

Otherwise, catching up on the weekends might be the only remedy.

A bottle of vodka would come in handy.

That works fine with me.

Cheers,

Quite understand the concept of not enough time to sleep.

if you can, try and take 15 minute break over your lunch period and lie down. Having a power nap is not easy for many but it you concentrate of relaxing each part of you from your toes up, this helps to go into relax mood. When a thought, any thought comes into your mind, acknowledge it and then throw it away..... attempt to have at least 5-8 minutes of relaxation that may fall into a light sleep..... set your phone alarm to avoid having an hour..

If, not then catch up on the weekend...

other than the above, no other solutions I am afraid.
