Help! What do I need to get our flat wifi-enabled?

Our building neighbor and I are sharing 1 ADSL connection. The router is in his flat so I just have a cable running to my desktop.

I want to be able to use the internet with my desktop as well as with my wifi-enabled laptop. With so many types of routers in Carrefour, can someone pls recommend the most cost-effective one to use (and if u know the price range too) -- and do I still need a range extender if I want to use my laptop inside my room (the desktop is in the living room which is about 12 meters away from my room).

Thanks in advance for your help!

you wont need it if you are planning of using it only in your house i suggest install the belkin modem router somewhere in the middle of your house where the signal will be distributed evenly keep in mind that signal will go through walls but the strength of connection will vary depending on the distance and the barriers

and if in the future you decide to get your own adsl connection just plug in the belkin directly and it will act as a modem for you no need for the modem/wireless that q-tel uses keep it or sell it

same like above but additionally if you are planning to use wireless for your desktop you will need a PCI-wireless receiver which will cost you around QR200 more or less

a good product to buy is a belkin wireless adsl router+modem will cost you around QR350+ and its a 2 in 1 deal

my suggestion keep the cable coming from your neighbor and at the end of it plug in the product above and plug in your desktop computer to it this will save you from buying a PCI wireless receiver plus faster connection compared to wireless and this setup will also save you from buying the wireless extender and since the wireless router is just a few meters away from your laptop the connection will be faster and signal will be stronger

happy surfing!

Get a Wi-Fi (wireless) Router NOT an ADSL router, and plug it to the wire and then connect your PC to the new wireless router via a cable and your laptop will be connected via Wi-Fi.
