This is a Hindi Movie:

Do you have the courage to watch Ram Gopal Varma's forthcoming horror film Phoonk [Images] all alone in a theatre? If you do, you may well be in with a chance to win Rs five lakh!

Don't Miss: The Phoonk trailer

In an attempt to excite audiences, Ram Gopal Varma and One More Thought Entertainment have announced a unique contest -- daring people from across the country to watch the movie alone in a theatre.

Phoonk is a movie based on black magic. The movie makers claim that the film is the scariest ever and have thus announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh to any person who completes the task.

People from across the country can participate by sending Phoonk as an SMS to 57333. A maximum of five contestants will be short-listed from all entries received and then brought to Mumbai to try and test their courage.

The rules and regulations for the contest have been posted on the film's website www.phoonk.in.

Some of the rules for the contest are:

The film will have to be seen from start to finish, without an interval.
No cell phones will be allowed inside the theatre, which will be fitted with cameras to monitor the contestant.
The contestant will have to clear a medical test prior to the screening and sign an indemnity bond!
Such conditions truly point out the seriousness of the dare.

"People don't realise how scary the whole experience can get," says Ramu. Are you ready for it?

FS: Yeah I guess they would have to screen it if they've promised it. India isn't short of crackpots who love to drag celebs to court for tiny issues. Practical or not, is debatable. I remember hearing something similar about another movie when I was a kid. Apparently, someone had put up a challenge to watch a horror movie alone. The challenger got thru the movie alright, but on the way back his shirt got tangled in nail close to a graveyard or something and he died of heart attack. LOL

Murali: Aag was a torture indeed. I think this contest should've been there for Aag. LOL. Please tell your cousin to retire asap. He's screwing up his own name as well as Amitabh's as well. I wonder when will Amitabh realise this.

yes you are right...its publicity scam.. but are they really gonna screen the movie individually for everyone who takes up the challange? Is that really practical?

It's a money making scam! Ram Gopal Verma (RGV) has made some of the worst movies in Bollywood, so I'm not expecting much from this one either.

Pretty easy to see thru their strategy. Hype the movie as the scariest movie ever, gives much needed publicity and generates artificial excitement among people. RGV actually thrives on publicity, whether good or bad.

Lets say even if they do give away 1 lac rupees each to to 5 randomly picked winners, can you imagine the money he's gonna generate from SMS people are gonna send. For sure each SMS wouldn't be charged less than 6 rupees. We already know how KBC and rest of the reality game shows work. Their main source of income is thru public voting from SMS' running into crores of rupees.
