If somebody leaves the country and then wants to come back to work with a new employer. Can he come back or there is a certain period to wait. If so , how much is that period?

Five year ban is not yet taken effect. Present rule is 2 year ban. However you can join the same company at any time during the ban. If you want join another company in Qatar during the ban period you should obtain an NOC from your previous employer. That normaly no employer gives unless you had been personally known to the employer and left the company in good terms.

About the 5 year ban, it is learnt that they will keep a ban period up to 5 years open to the employer, but minimum ban may be 1 or 2 years. If the employer wishes he can impose ban ranging from 1 to 5 years. This rule is still in pipeline and not yet approved by the HH the Emir of Qatar.

A week ago, I spoke to my employer (GM) expressing my intention to resign. I was told that if ever I will resign, they will send me back to my country of origin and cannot come back to Qatar for 5years. I am on my 12month in our company.

I believe that the 5year re-entry ban to expatriates is already in effect.

If you have worked in Qatar under a year or do not have a NOC letter then you are banned for 2 years. A 5 year ban is discussed these days.

At present, a 2-year ban is imposed. But there is a provision that will ban expats for 5 years before re-entering the counry though I am not sure if the law has already been approved or not.
