Schooling for American Citizens..Priority? Help!

We are a family of US citizens moving to Doha mid-August. Thus far, I have been unsuccessful in finding any schools with open spots through phone inquiries and e-mails with no responses. Can anyone provide me some tips as to how to get into a school? Do any schools provide priority to US citizens? I'm concerned about moving my kids all the way there in mid-August and not being able to find a school for them by the time they start.

Thanks for the responses...My kids are actually quite young still 9yr and 6yrs old...so it wouldn't help to leave them in the US.

How old are your kids? If they are old enough i suggest u keep them back in US to finish their school there, less hassles, plus the schools here are so freaking expensive ie if your paying outta your own pockets. Its gonna be difficult for them to leave their old school friends and adjust to a new place, its like starting everything all over again, so may be u should consider letting them continue school back home if that could be an option for you.

Most schools' front office staff are probably on holiday at this point. Maybe 2nd or 3rd week of August they will be back and getting things going. I'm only guessing here.

American School of Doha is the only on that possibly gives priority to American citizens. Might want to try Compass International School and International School of London. ISL is new and I have recently heard of kids getting into both schools. Your kids might have to sit out for awhile. Consider a temp. learning center, some form of home schooling and/or a school you don't really prefer just while your kids hang out on multiple wait lists. It is unbelievably frustrating but there's no real solution. Good luck.
