AirBags in Pajero? Really??

HM
By HM

Does anybody know what to do, who to talk if during the accident (pretty bad collision) the airbags do not work to actually protect the driver and the passenger? Particularly on the Mitsubishi Pajero. Bought here in Doha a year ago, had the accident - none of two airbags opened; Tried to meet with seniors at the showroom, but seems like nobody wants to talk about that, neither give advice on who to talk to. Would welcome any advice from you guys, and probably any lawyer who could help in filing case against Mitsubishi dealer in Qatar.

there go my plans to buy a pajero.

Well, i am no expert but, i think airbags are designed to open only after a certain level of impact force. Was the impact too bad?

HM, good going. Sounds like progress, hopefully they'll be serious about the issue.

ok, for the past 2 days have been communicatign with Mitsubishi officials. Their senior manager called me up and asked not to spread around about this issue, and that they'll definitey look into that and make investigation. They'll call me back on Saturday. If no response by Sunday, I'll go to newspapers and that ministry of Economy and Commerce...

First of all. I think the airbags are activated when you have a front-side collision.

I would recommend approaching NBKS in an official way. Their email address is [email protected]

You are advised also to approach Consumer Protection Department at the Ministry of Ecocomy and Commerce. If they claim that this case is beyond their authorities, then approach Sepcifications & Measures Department at the same Ministry. Am not sure if they are different departments or the same department.

Try Mistubishi Motors Customer Care center (not sure if they have a regional center or you have to contact Japan for that purpose. Unfortunately, their site is down at this moment.

Thank you guys, I'll try to see other guys in Mitsubishi tomorrow, will talk to them and see what they tell me. Meanwhile, if nothing comes out of that discussion, then i'll try news paper and seek for lawyers. I reported to Al-Ahli the same day after getting the police report, so will also ask them to produce the medical report. thanks for all ur advice!

HM first of all good to know you are safe. There may have been a defect in the design, production or installation of the air bags. You can certainly bring a legal action for malfunctioning airbags but first seek a practising lawyers advice, you'll need an accident report, a medical report to claim for personal injury as well as have technical tests conducted to support your case of the airbags not deploying under conditions that so required. I wish I could help you out but I am way out of my jurisdiction here ;-) The sooner you see a lawyer about this the better to ensure your matter is not time barred as Im not sure about the statute of limitations here.
