Maternity

Hi All

Please can someone let me know what will be the best hospital to give birth in in Doha? I have been here for 2 months now and I have read all the stories (both good and bad) regarding giving birth in Qatar....
If anyone can recommend where to go I would be very grateful!

Thank you so much for that... mentioned to the husband and think the best thing now is to go and visit the hospital and see what it's all about...

Al Ahli costs us about $5000 US when it was all said and done. All pre-natal care and delivery. We don't have insurance so I don't know about that. I can't imagine Hamad is going to turn a pregnant woman away if you want to go the gov't route???

Thanks for getting back to me.... Daunting being in a new country with no family to get you through except my husband who is busy working all day & night.... Have heard lots re Al Ahli, but isnt it expensive? and in saying that have heard you dont get covered by medical aid unless you were here 9 months prior to getting pregnant?

There's loads of information on this topic on this site as well as on www.expatwomanqatar.com. Usually the top 4 places that are mentioned are Al Ahli Hospital, Al Emadi Hospital, Doha Clinic Hospital and Hamad Hospital (if you want gov't). I would say majority of western ladies choose Al Ahli. I had my son at Al Ahli and it was a great experience.
