To All Experienced People..

i have an unterview on Sunday for a developer position..
in a very well respected company..
i don't wanna miss this chance..

i am a Technical Support engineer but i have medium background in Software Development & Web Design..
so,
i've decided to tell the interviewers that i'm strong in ASP.NET & C#.. which is not exactly true..

what questions do u think i'll get on these topics..?!
& how to answer them..?!
&
what do i say when they ask me to talk about myself..?!

i have no experience as a developer, i've worked as a tech support & helpdesk operator for 2 years..

do i lie & tell them that i am developer..?!

thanks for the help..
take care..

I agree with Red Pope, don't give them any rope for them to hang you with.

I would suggest researching the company and its background. This way, you can discuss what you like about the compnay, show's that you are really interested with their company and youre not just there for the money. I would also add at the end if they have any concerns for you at this time.

Never take short cuts during the interview, just answer with honesty and clarity and in the best of your ability the questions, they will ask you. Never provide them information that will cause for them to ask you more in depth. Just stick to their questions they ask you and relax, they already know you are nervous.........

you need to be yourself, stress the fact that you have the ability to learn new skills quickly, otherwise they will soon realise your shortcomings and that will make you feel worse.

Be honest, you will get more respect that way.

Good luck

Isn’t it ridiculous??

How you want to get a job which you have no idea how to perform? you put in trouble not only yourself, but a whole company… when you won’t be able to complete a task on time, you will put in danger probably whole project! Be a bit more responsible!

Wow, I do get amazed at posts like this one. Ethics is not a strength to a lot of people! Even after people tell him he should not lie he still wants to know what questions to expect.

I actually hope you don't get the job, mast_mas. You do realize companies hire expats to bring their expertise, right?

with the previous posters. You will eventually be found out and may well lose your job.

If HR don't spot your lie they most certainly will at the technical inteview with the experts.

i agree with tamumech - lying in interviews is just bad in so many ways.

An experienced interviewer will easily find out if you're lying and no one wants to hire someone who they can't trust.

The things you should focus on are your ability to learn new skills quickly and the ability to tackle new problems. Also, that while you may be working in support you want to move into development - to prove this you have a portfolio of projects/part-time work/etc.

Most importantly, dress sharp and be on time!

Good Luck!

no don't lie... if they find out later that you lied, you will not only lose your job but it will also be harder to find another. they may even ask more questions about asp or c++ that will reveal that you're lying.
