Car insurance dilemma!!!

A friend of mine bought a used car a month ago.He wanted to insure the car so he contacted a popular insurance company for enquiries.He got to know from the insurance company that the car is under full insurance from the previous owner but he didn't know this prior to the call cos the previous owner didn't inform him.He now asked the insurance company to transfer/take over the full insurance poilcy by the previous owner and wouldn't mind paying extra dough but they said they will contact him later to tell him how to go about it.
Could you good people in this forum suggest how the policy can be transfered/taken over by the new owner?
Any comments/advice will be highly appreciated.

most propably they will call the previous owner and take his permissoin to transfere the insurance.
