I wanna know if there is a land route from Doha to Abudhabi. If yes, how is the road and how long is the journey?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Curious, great info!

One more question; I am pretty sure I know the answer but since you seem to be the expert...

My girlfired owns a car. Is there any chance that we could drive thru Saudi? Unmarried and all I mean?

mp5050..

you may not cross the border without the consent of the person to whom car is registered. The name is printed on car's papers.

border check point will not let you.

I am not sure if Avis does allow renters to do so, but if they do, you have to get thier consent on way or the other.

What if the vehicle is not registered in your name?

ie. Avis Rental

I doubt avis would 'allow' it but how are they to know... I am asking more in ref. to getting across the borders.

route is as follows:

Doha to Abu Samra (doha's border check point) is beautiful road which should take about one hour and 30 minutes from the edge of doha(depends on your speed).

after 3 kilometres from passing abu samra, you will enter Salwa ( Saudi border check point)...

1 kilometre or so after exiting Salwa, you will see a round about (be very careful, road is dangerous once you get in Saudi)

from the Round about, you need to be vigilant because you need to take left for Emirates.

from this roundabout, it takes 1 hour & 30 minutes to reach al-bat-ha (Saudi border check point) (120 Kms). This road is dangerous too because it is one road combined for dual ways.

after this you will reach Al-guwayfat (UAE border check point) after which roads are beautiful again! foolow the signs until you get to Abu Dhabi.

Whole journey should last about 8 hours.

- border check points are open 24 hours.

- you need to pay insurance at the Saudi border (70 riyals for a week or a hundred riyals for two weeks)

- you need to pay insurance at the UAE border (i believe it is about 100 Riyals or so for a week).

Always stay alert when driving in highways.

Good luck..

2 Questions

I have a Nissan X-Trail 2.4 lit engine. Can it go to Dubai on a summer evening.

Are the border check points open 24 hours?

I may be crossing late night

The road between Doha and UAE is very good, nothing wrong with it. Only maybe a few trucks but they are not a problem for you. Yes it is very safe and easy do do.

There is land route via Saudi Arabia.

You have to cross Qatar- Saudi border, then Saudi-UAE border. Both borders u will have to spend atleast one hour for clearance. Then you have to pay road insurance for both the countries(ie. Saudi and UAE). The road in between qatar- saudi border and saudi-UAE border is not that good. Extra care is required. UAE border post, you may have to scan your eye for entry visa purposes that can take sometime. Altogether you have to spend 6 to 7 hours.....

enjoy your trip
