PLEASE SOMEONE ENLIGHTEN ME!

can someone please give me a justification on why they have to apply qatarisation here?
i mean... as I know it, qataris have their monthly income right? So why do they have to give first priority to employ them? it's understandable that they want to train them to be productive... but it's really confusing when they reject the application for labour permit of some expat... their only reason... there are qataris for that position... (but still in school!!!)
I for one have been rejected by the labour dept... it has been a year ago since they told me that they couldn't approve my application for labour permit coz they have some qataris for the job... but up until now... nobody's showing up!!!!! gosh!!!!
AND... why do you think expats come here? it's because they want to work here right? so what are they supposed to do when they get rejected??????? what's the use in coming here?
PLEASE SOMEONE ENLIGHTEN ME!

I read in the Gulf News today that expatriates in the UAE will soon not be allowed to sponsor friends visiting the UAE.

I suppose they are sick of people arriving on visit visas and then starting work.

Salaries and grades differ according to the company. I know of a high school graduate with no work experience who was offered his first position as a trainee for QR 20 000. QR 14 000 salary and the rest allowances. This is in the private sector.

IMO too high for the kind of work he is doing...much of it is training.

don’t forget, we are her FOR WORK only! …and we are here as long as Qatar doesn’t have enough of their own human recourse. Tomorrow they will have enough, they will let ALL OF US go home! you have to understand it.

I think it’s very wise policy of Qatar. It shows that they are thinking ahead, about their future.. .they encourage young guys to study, to get education.. it takes time to put in mind and in your mentality that you have to study and have to work… it might take couple of generations, and they started doing it now… Qatar still doesn’t have enough its own high educated engineers with a lot of experience, its own doctors, etc. A huge investment is made in educational sector.. by my idol, by the Lady that I admire, by Sheikha Mozah….She thinks about coming generations, and do her best to provide them with the best future… that’s why priority in work placement is given to the nationals…It is really wise policy!

I'm under my father's sponsorship... and I've lived here quite a long time now... I got a temp job right now but a year ago they've given me a confirmation that they want me to be permanent... but unfortunately... when they applied for my labour permit, it got rejected. saying that they have someone to put on that position... but no one's coming up until now... and I'm still a temp. :(

Ei... by the way... thank you all for giving me reasons to ponder...

Having prevously worked in Saudi Arabia, I was surpried when I came to Qatar. In Saudi, expatriates can only come to the country if they have a job offer. This makes more sense to me.

expats do come here to with work visa. I assume you are under your spouse sponsorship. Well I have never met any Qatari working in India (excuse diplomats) do they work in

Philippines?

Why dont you try to apply in places like airlines, hotels

where Qatari females wont dare to apply, or some private companies.

Remaining sectors belong to them

Sounds fantastic "getting money, doing nothing" :):):):)

Why Qataris have priority? Well, are we in Qatar or not? It's normal and logical that in every country nationals have priority. It should be.

how about my situation? all those reasons they've told me at the labour dept... been in my job for more than two years now... so why can't they give me permit?

and where are those qataris that they said they will send? i surely need them right now... let me see if they can help me.

the correction is simple.

We don't get money for doing nothing.

We do get a pension after you work for a certain number of years. It's equal to 90% of your base salary. (that is offered in most countries).

Having mentioned that, even THEN, our salary is totally shaped differently.

E.g. a grade 10 Qatari = 20k (6k base, rest is allowances)

a grade 10 expat = 20k (12k base, rest is allowances)

But to do nothing. No that information is incorrect.

Qataris have a monthly income? You mean you think we get money for doing nothing?

Where's mine?
